Six month primers

About 4 or 5 years back my dad told me of a primer being developed that had a six month life span. Curious, I "googled" it and sure enough there was alot of information out there on this. I haven't looked into or thought about it much because I haven't really heard anything on it. The other day a coworker ask if I heard that they were going to start using the six month primers to make our ammo. I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything the use of these primers in factory loaded and for sale on the shelf ammo? Is that the intentions of these primers via the no gun nut libs or do they have another use for them. It seems like pro gunners are always under attack in some way. I know it will never end either. Hope everyone has a Great Day.

They are going to screw up and make more difficulties for our military than they have now! We vets know how screwed up the supply system can be, and this will fall right into the category of Murphy's Law! We'll have soldiers embrioled in combat, and they'll get resupplied with "dead" ammo, because of these primers. The worst part of this scenario is we know just how shortsighted the gummint can be, and they'll pop out the same weary answer, "That could NEVER happen, we got BETTER!" But we all KNOW BETTER!

Angry

It would cost the politicians who back it dearly - as soon as someone loses their life in a self defense situation and the ammo fails - their family will sue the political backers for everything they are worth, AND their family jewels.....
With the price of ammo too, people would be mightily PO'd if their stored ammo went bad......

It's just a very bad idea all the way around!

This rumor started going around a few years ago. I don't believe there was anything too it then, or now.

Don't fool yourself into complacency! Those who want us disarmed, or at least make it hard on us will stop at NOTHING! to accomplish their goal. If they can get someone to make a six month primer, you can bet your last buck they'll do their very best to get it approved through congress, OR executive order! The problem lies with making something that will go bad on a specific date. It will usually go bad way sooner, leaving the person who depends on it at risk of injury or death. When they get our military and the police killed in action because of this foolishness, thet WILL REAP THE WHIRLWIND! Those who push for this kind of crap will need to be well documented, so we get the right culprits!

While I dont doubt the anti's would love to see a six month primer or bullets with taggent powder, or any other means to make our world more difficult or costly, I would think manufactures would be screaming at the top of their lungs NO ! As stated in previous posts , when you need a boom and all you get is click bad things happen. The legal ramifications of having a bullet that intentionally goes bad puts way to much liabilty on the producers of ammo. The lifes of military , police, security guards , joe citizen / home defender depends that ammo goes boom when needed to do so. Has anyone saw legislation with this proposal in it and can identifiy it with a number ?

anything that will kill a primer in six months will kill it in 1 day. as of yet nothing realistic like this exists. very few things will kill a primer short of firing it.

One way they can make a primer that would be "short life" is allow it to collect moisture to render it useless. The only other way to make it is to use a decomposing material that would go inert.

Both would be a highly legal night mare to ANY ammo manufacturer that goes along with the idea.

Horrendously bad Idea, unsafe and potentially disasterous!
