Man, You leave for 8 months and things sure do change. But I like the new set up.
And it is nice to see green things and hills, I'm tired of seeing miles and miles of sand and desert. Gotta tell you guys that Iraq really sucks!!!!! And not too impressed with the capital Baghdad, it's not all that Saddam made it up to be. So don't put it on your future travel plans.
Even with all the found and captured weapons I havent seen anything U.S. WWII vintage but I have found some SMLE's with WWII dates on them, pretty tired looking but still serviceable.
But It's nice to be home, And being a soldier from the cold war 80's you were treated like a pariah, it was strange and shocking to have people come up to me in the airports (we flew back in DCU's) coming up to me and shaking my hand and saying how proud us us they are and thanking us for our service. To say it was nice is an understatement. I have to say this but 911 has had a very positive effect on patriotism and respect for our military.
It's good to be home even though it is only for 15 days. Then I return on the trail end of my tour with three months left to go it should go quick.
Thanks for the support!!!
