My only 'new' Marlins are the Model 60SB, Model 25MN and Model 17V - all are very good shooters, from around 1999-2000. The two magnum bolties are superbly accurate. The 60SB semi easily beats my Ruger 10-22 'Walmart Special' Rifle (not the carbine) from the same time period.

Still in court...PNC bank is preventing us from getting paid...they're trying to glom all the leftover funds and they're making it very hard
for us to retrieve our last three weeks pay...bad enough that Adam's Produce screwed us, PNC's making it worse...
So if ANYONE does biz with PNC, give 'em Hell
I've had a few local biz owners cut ties completely, to the point that one even has a sign up in his store that states,
"We no longer accept Checks or Debit Cards from PNC Bank"
Sooner or later it'll start costing them more money to not let us get paid than it will to pay us...
Yeah I got wrapped up with an outfit called Allegro Law. They were suppose to be like Consumer Credit Counselors, which I used a long time ago back when I was younger. Well after paying in 2800.00 come to find out they were filing bankruptcy and didn't pay anything to any creditors. Not just me but everyone involved with them. That was 5 years ago. It is now going thru a trustee and has been nothing but a pain in the ass. I keep sending them emails and telling them I want my f--kin money.
Then I heard that the outfit out of Texas called Tax Masters is filing bankruptcy. I heard they didn't pay anything to the IRS or set up nothing for their customers. No, I didn't get messed up with them.
I just don't understand how these businesses can take peoples money say they are going to preform a service and skip out. They get caught and DO NOT re-embers anyone and it takes years in court to get them to do anything. And if you expect to win you have to hire the attorney. If you had that kind of money you wouldn't be using them in the first place.

Well, they NEED to go BACK to the old design and quit making the junk that people don't WANT! I've had customers come in and complain about how they went to cheaper extractors and ejectors on the lever action models, and they aren't going to buy any more until Marlin/Remington makes good and puts the good stuff back in the guns! I couldn't agree more, and back my customers on their gripes!
A few years back I really wanted a good (when they were good) Marlin lever action. But these days now that I am serious about getting one, every gun store I go to all of them have nothing but plenty of horror stories with all of their product and customer service of late.
I am leaning more and more towards a Winchester 1894 model which is also 3x the price....

I don`t know about their quality today, but I have a .450 Marlin, a 1894 with octagon barrel in .45 colt, and a model 39--the last two being purchased three and two years ago respectively (and the 450 about 7 years ago). They are excellent guns with quality workmanship; the ONLY problem I have is that the sights on the .45 colt were way off in windage when delivered. Although it is good fun shooting, spending the money to drift, shoot, drift, shoot.... was not one of my favorite chores (and I just couldn`t bring myself to put optics or peep sights on the octagon barrel gun). It surprises me I got the gun that way but that is the only problem I`ve had which is not much.
I also can`t bring myself to put optics on the .22 (it just seems obscene to me to have a scope on a lever acton .22) despite the eyes are finally catching up with the calendar.

hmm glad to hear your having such good experiences. in regards to my last comment, all of the complaints were from stuff made in the past year or so while Marlin went/is still going through their transition period under new ownership or whatever it is.
Hopefully once all the dust settles things will get back to normal.

My Marlin 39A is from 1952 - a classic. Having 55 year old eyes, the open sights just don't cut it, and I too don't like the look of a lever rifle with a scope (I make an exception for my hunting Modl 336!) - I installed the excellent tang-mounted Marbles peep sight on the 39A. Very nice! A good peep sight is as accurate as a scope up to 50 yards.

There are literally MILLIONS of used Marlins out there, I'd grab one of those...pre-2005 being the preferred...

It is because we can't do what we used to...back up our word with a six-shooter...
the Law has become more of a hinderance to good people than it is a benefit...
I guarantee that the corporate raiders would become less if we got to plug or hang 'em...
My .450 Marlin Guide gun is top of the line. Everything about it, down to the checkering is quality. I bought it for hogs and the wife killed her first bear with it. The only other Marlin I have is 50 years old .22. Haven't looked at'em recently though.
