We were planning to take our yearly Labor Day weekend canoe trip. We usually put the canoe in the river on Saturday, paddle/float, camp on the side of the river Sat night, paddle/float Sunday, camp on the side of the river Sun night, paddle/float until about noon on Monday, load it all back up in the Jeep and drive home.
But our dog is really sick, so we're staying home this Labor Day weekend.
Not much of nothin. Don't make plans for anything. I just wait and see what happens. Most likely I won't do anything. Hang out at the house. People say that is a boring life. But I love my house and the little town I live in. The Polly Crockett Festival is coming up in Sept. Just might walk up to town and see what they have to offer. Never have been to really look at the Polly Crockett Festival. Ya, know she is berried real close to where I live. Hey I was just thinkin, this just might a good place to find an ol mans bench to sit on .
And did I mention that squirrel season opened up in Tennessee?

We're supposed to be having the remnants of Isaac paying us a visit for a day or two. I hope to go see 2016 on Sunday afternoon, figure out some places to plant some perennials we just got, and then hopefully have a chance to make up some low power loads for the Redhawk to practice with.
I got out to the club range the other day, and once again find the gun shoots better than I do. I got a real nice 4 shots touching with a called flyer at 50 yards with my deer load. Hate those flyers, but at least I called it!
A couple other loads didn't do quite as well, but everything would have been in the kill zone for a whitetail. Now if only hunting shots came when I had a benchrest for the gun! Hence the desire for the lowpower practice loads as my shoulder recovers from the last time I screwed it up.

Been waitin, holding my breath for an invite from family, friends......Noffin!
My brother asked us to come up his cottage but that is a 60.00 trip in gas and yet some so I don't know yet, maybe nothing but home sweet home....
Plenty ta do around here......
And I ain't spending any money to feed nobody this year. We have had one every year since I can remember, but the younger ones never have any money to pitch in so the heck with em.......
There's a huge car show here. HUGE.
They block off most of the major through-ways, and then within the weekend, they cram a quarter of a million people in a space that normally feels crowded with less than 15, 000. And now there's no way to get around...
My plans? GETTING THE HECK OUT OF TOWN.

I find myself....dragging my feet...to quote the Best Friend from "Mr. & Mrs. Smith"...
I'll probably be playing with the twins and trying to talk the Wifey into going to the beach...
she is Ultra-Protective of them, even though they are doing so much better now
Both are off Oxygen now, we have reserve tanks in case of emergency...but they're 02 level runs 95-100 when awake, and 90+ when asleep...
All we have to watch for now is asthma...and any developmental issues as they get older due to the low birth weight/preemie issues...

What time do you get off work Sat? We'll be taking two of our dogs to the beach Saturday evening, Sunday evening, and Monday evening (weather permitting). You should come join us!
Shooting pistols Friday morning, practicing mag changes, different firing positions. 50 rounds each for the 2 1911s and a couple hundred rounds for the S&W 22A. Dinner at home with Filet Mignon on the grill, salted baked potatoes and roasted garlic cauliflower.
Back to the range on Saturday morning with the new Savage Model 11 in .223 to burn up....oh the 150 rounds I have loaded, and the Remington 700 in 30-06 for a more shoulder friendly 50 rounds. May take the Garand just cause it's fun to shoot. The Savage Mark II in .22LR goes along cause it's fun and cheap to shoot. Dinner at the Nisqually Red Wind Casino Buffet (all you can eat lobster and crab for $20) and spend my $5 a week on the slots.
Sunday I will be afield with binos scouting a nice elk herd I've been watching. I probably won't hunt this fall, but next year it's a sure thing. There's no such thing as scouting enough.
Monday morning and evening I'll be floating some flies down a local river to see if I can entice a trout to take my meager offerings.
Pretty much the same as every weekend.

Do you still have my PH#?
I still have your number, and Saturday shouldn't be a long day, probably 2-3 at the latest (knock on wood) And dogs on the beach sounds cool!
WaterDog: Nothin' better than shooting and hanging out with your best friend!
TNPirate: I had no idea that Mary Polly Crockett was buried there in TN! That's really cool! Bummer the festival doesn't start this weekend for you. Our family research says that I am related to her well-documented husband. Take picts if you ever go see her final resting place...I'd like to see those.
Joe Brainard: WOW! That's a heck of a flea market!! An average of 430 vendors each week from Memorial Day through Labor Day!!! My buddy, who is from WI (but lives here in VA) needs a cheese-head hat..or an old Packers jersey (you know...Jim Taylor, Don Hutson, etc.). Keep an eye out for bargains! :-)
DaTeacha: It's questionable at this point whether you're going to get anything out of Isaac or not. Weird storm...not following majority spaghetti models. I hope you find time to go see "2016" and plant your plants!!
Earl: Amen brother! If no one in the family invites you, then just spend the time at home. I will, however, tell you that you're welcome to come visit us here at the beach. The guest room is empty this weekend.
Jay: Sorry you have to work all weekend, but I'm really glad that so many people are going to be getting your wise instruction. May God keep you safe when the range is hot and when it's cold.
JetGirl: May your travels be safe and your mind be at peace this weekend.
Big Shrek: I pray for the twins and their development. I hope you, Wifey and the twins find something fun to do!
BeardedJesse: That sounds like a fun weekend!!! Be safe and take picts/video for us!!!
AllAlaskan: Drink lots of juice and get lots of sleep. May our father God heal and rejuvinate you.
Ron Eagle Elk: WOW! You just described the perfect weekend/life. Color me jealous.

We won't be able to take fuzzy babies to the beach until after 1800 hours, so plan on 1830 or so for Saturday (which is supposed to be our best beach day this weekend). I have an extra beach chair for you. We'll let the fuzzy babies play, watch the sun set, have a glass of wine or a beer...perfect. Call me.
We are going up to the BBQ competition in Mesquite, NV. It's featured on bbq pit masters I think. Anyways we have been for the last three years as my friend and his family come down. Eat way to much sit around shootin the chit and eat some more. I also plan on doing a little shooting this weekend as well. Break in the new AR-10, sight in the aimpoint on my AR-15, maybe a 100 or so rounds through a few pistols? Who knows. The weather may or may not cooperate though.

Thanks for the good wishes, but I'm not a bit sorry. Getting paid a little for shooting safely, and teaching others to do the same, is pretty good stuff. ...

The brother that invited us up is from Culpepper,VA I don't know how close that is to you but he will be up in Somerset,PA at his cottage. A day at the beach with dogs would be great but my hound at 122 pounds don't like the sand or the water
and he is a male Mastiff/Lab..What a sissy boy...LOLrotfl.....
