Of course most of the guns we buy are never used on anything but targets in our backyards, and then it's usually just punching holes and ballistics don't matter much.
So I'm wondering what PRACTICAL uses there are for CZ 52. I would think its fixed barrel would mean accuracy, so wouldn't it be a cood competition gun? Or no? How does the recoil compare to other pistols (ie polymer framed 40s, 1911s, 357 revolvers, 22 autos and revolvers, etc)?
How about hunting? Suppose with slower, heavier bullets it would be good for that?
I've heard they're not good for CCW, because of their size and overpenetration. True, false? Could differently designed ammo change that?

What kind of load options are out there? I assume loads in that caliber are designed primarily for that pistol, like the 150gr 7.62x39mm Wolf round is designed for hunting deer with the SKS.

depends for what gun these for the 7.62 will be under wraps until I do some extensive testing while I am on vacation over the next two months. -- give me an idea of what your after and we will go from there?
I'm not sure how near a CZ-52 is in my future, but I was thinking 150gr or heavier bullets. It would only be for the CZ-52.
There's tons of guns I want and I'm tryin to get them at the right prices for the right reasons at the right times. If I spend too much or buy the wrong ones first I end up having to sell and that's usually no fun, unless I hated the gun or am getting something that fills its role and more.

one issue I have the the heavy 150 is the fact that the magazine may not be able to handle it and if I seat the bullet to deep we will be looking at the surgical removal of parts from my body. I will run some numbers with the guys at Nosler since I will be at the plant next week
Last thing I'd want is for someone to damage a pistol or themselves on one of my crazy ideas. That's why I like to bring them into the open for evaluation. As far as seating depth goes... Would it cause too much pressure buildup?
I'm starting to think heavy bullets are better used in gas operated semis, not recoil or blowback operated ones.
Would still be nice to know what the range of bullet weights are for the CZ-52.

BRG# look at the 30 carbine rounds out there -- I am thinking the optimum defense round will be a 95gr JHP pushing no more than a 39K cup pressure and that is why I am planning on meeting with the guys at Nosler, Accurate is 40 miles from my house so I will drive out there when I get back from the west coast
I was thinking of 30 Carbine rounds too, since they're generally used in revolvers and thus wouldn't have the same issues as auto pistols.
I was thinking heavy bullets would be for hunting and suppressible subsonic loads. I guess CZ-52 for hunting makes little sense for me since you can't hunt with autos in PA.

BRG many times people get hung up in velocity verse transfered weight of impact -- in most cases the hunting load will be a mid weight and med. velocity -- I use 60gr 6mm bullets in a 6x45 and I have dropped deer without any effort the key is target selection -- remember you can drop deer and wild boar with a .22 if you place the round right
Shaun,
Do you know if anyone is planning on releasing self defense loads in 30 Tok any time soon?
thanks.

I am planning on doing it through my business- anything you are looking for -- I am thinking the first offering will be the 95gr Hornady xtp Hollow point at 1200fps to 1250fps depending on the customer
I guess two competing considerations are that the CZ-52 is probably the most common and desired pistol in that caliber here, but that it's also stronger than other guns that could be damaged by loads that wouldn't phase it.

There is a clown that goes by "Clarkmag" that goes from forum to forum complaining about how "weak" the CZ52 is. He claims to overload it until it blows. I've told him numerous times, any idiot can blow anything up if he tries hard enough! He also goes by plain "Clark" because hes made so many people mad at him. There is a cult following of the CZ52 and I'm right up there with 'em...got 3 now, and will have six if I ever finish my quest to have all 3 years in grey also! :right:
