ANY G&G Members In the Fires In Calif....

Those fires in southern Calif. are devastating, almost 1000 homes have been lost now, those poor people, we are sending our fire fighters there now, and also trucks with food and water for make shift camps to help the people that have lost there homes. Any of you G&G members live near the fire areas, keep us posted as to whats going on.....so tragic...and I heard it was arson...just wondering if it has anything to do with terrorists....because it is all over the state...like 5 big fires.....over more than 500,000 acres, that is bigger than the Las Veags valley very hard to imagine the devastation and already so many lives lost.....My Mother grew up there near Riverside where my grandfather was was a farmer and had orange groves, and I remember the santa anna winds going through those canyons as a little girl, very hot and dry....I pray for all those people...Lady Di

I could not believe it when I went outside this morning, all the smoke and ash from the Fires has filled our valley here, you cannot see...I have never seen anything like this EVER, you can smell the FIRE and it burns your nose.....it is only 250 miles to LA from here......I guess the FIRES are moving this way to. I hope all these EPA guys are happy now, they didn't want to clear the forests of the dead trees, and make new Fire breaks, because of the beetles and the spotted owls......and so on...

yep, thank God the tree huggers saved the bugs and owls, now they don't have any trees to hug

Being from a state that, traditionally, has more than its share of wild fires I can certainly feel the pain and losses the southern California people feel right now.

My wife and I sit out on our back patio and look at all the open land around us....just rip for a good rip roaring fire.

It's not a matter of 'if' but when and how big.

The other side note to the California fires is that the fires are taking all of the soil errosion containment features brush and trees provide. When the next big rains come it's gonna be landslide h e l l.

Perhaps the Democraps in California ought to think about banning all wild fires along with their gun laws.

Di, the fact you're getting smoke and ash there in Vegas is mind boggling, isn't it?

Just hope it gets no worse for you there.

Dale I am sure you guys in Arizona, will start getting some of the smoke and ash, your not that far away from Las Vegas...on the news today, they have warned everyone to stay inside, even the kids at school cannot play outside...the air is so bad. I usually take a nice long walk everyday, trying to get myself back in shape from my accident, and NEW accident...LOLLLL NOW, can't even go outside. I did get some good news this week though, my truck is in the shop getting reparied, and they ordered all new parts, NO used....so I will have that back in a few weeks and will not be home bound.....I am just so afraid to drive...NO LEFT TURNS...LOL I will JUST KEEP GOING RIGHT!!!!!!!!! LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

i think logging is a good way to stp alot of this from happening .
they should let them people go in there and thin out and clean them forest .i mean after all they do plant new trees and the land is in gonna be alot safer after then it is now. all them dead trees on the ground ain't to good for nuthin.

sort of reminds me of the cerro grande fire we had here, except a whole lot bigger, 25% of our town burned in 2000, only a 45000 acre fire, this is the price we pay for the sierra club and other organizations banning logging in the west, and thinning the forest to its normal load, I saw a pic of las vegas on the news, Di get youself some air cleaners to put in your house, and stay out of that crap as much as possible, its really harmful

Thanks 7mmag6, I will be ok, have to stay inside the house, as the smoke is so bad, it burns your nose and hurts to breath...I read your post and am not surprised it has made its way down to your area......total devastation....I grew up in that area, spent every summer with my grandfather, and it is sad to think it is all gone now......I just pray for all those poor people and for the firefighters and rescue crews....so tragic Lady Di

just think where are all them owl's sleepin now?. maybe if they would have let them people clean them forest them poor little owl's would have a home tonight .and so would them people in califonia.

They showed Las Vegas on the news last night and it was horrible!
The smoke made its way to Tucson since then and right now we look about like Vegas. I cant see any of the mountains here and the winds are bringing more of it our way. I work outside everyday and I cant avoid the smoke. Not too healthy...

Snakebite..it is pretty clear here today as the winds are blowing the smoke out of the valley, now it is just dusty....still some smoke but not like yesterday....very windy though.....sorry to hear that you have to work in all the smoke.....I fear it will get worse, before it gets better....hang-in there GUY!
