I was just banned permanently because I returned the admins e-mail saying he better ban the guys who were baiting ME and asked him if he was blind or what? He returned my e-mail saying it was none of my business who he banned and now I was banned permanently for "flaming"{ him and calling him blind! What an a-hole. I left that forum a long time ago because of a few liberal pukes on there that they protect for some reason. There is a bunch of Canadians on there that like to badmouth the USA. But when I'd give it back, they'd get their "maple leaves" all in a bunch...good riddance! :full:

Look Joe, first I had to wrestle this little 3-year old candy slinging devil off my front porch and now I have to contaminate my pure GM blood by reading a looooong Ford forum thread.....you owe me.

Now don't get excited about the Ford slander.....my wife was driving a Ford when I fell for her long ago; nothing like a Maverick with three on the tree....I drove it myself for several years....that faithful car's name was "Katie"....sometimes I forget my wife's name, so I just call her "Sweetie".

Anyway, on to your issue:

I believe that your position, belief, and intent are true, and I agree with them all. You were direct, determined, and unwavering. You were also aggressive and provocative. Whether or not you were overly aggressive and provative is an extremely difficult question and I am neither prepared nor qualified to judge (particularly since I have been accused of the same, on occasion. Patrick Henry and Samual Adams were, as well.)

Something I have discovered over the years is that there appears to be a growing number of individuals within this great nation who, upon finding themselves unable to hold their own or adequately support their positions in a discussion or debate, will instinctively change the subject and attack the individual(s) who oppose(s) them in the debate. Those attacks are nearly always personal in nature, and they are generally targeted to provoke their opposition. What's more (based upon my humble observations), these attacks tend to be made by individuals who have difficulty standing upon their own merits and preparation, and these attacks tend to be made against those sorts of individuals who openly "stand" for "something"; those who feel strongly about certain matters. These guys also know that, in this day and time, unfounded/outrageous and slanderous personal remarks are unlikely to result in severe pain or death of themselves, as might have happened 100 years ago.

If a man is courageous enough to stand up and speak out for a fundamental right, then an attack upon his patriotism or manhood or religion can be a very effective means to enrage, divert, and even discredit that man. That may have happened here (it has happened to me on numerous occasions). Most of the posts from those in opposition to you did not directly address the rights of citizens and the relavance of gun control; they were aimed instead at you. And, they diverted you from your course.

My advice (if of any use at all):
Learn from this experience, so you can whoop them even more decisively next time.
Pause and reflect for a moment before responding to personal attacks and provocation. Sometimes the best response to a childish comment is to ignore it; sometimes not. Most importantly, try not to lower yourself to their level. Don't play their game; play yours.
Support and rally your supporters (even your critical supporters).
Don't give the opposition additional material (about yourself) that they can use to further attack you. Try to hold those cards close.
Then, please teach me how to do all of this, cause I continue to struggle....!

And, get bluemoose89 to join your forum here! An interesting individual.

Best wishes, and Give 'em hell, Joe!

Thumbs up

James...you said it best! I've noticed occasionally that even on G&G when a discussion gets heated, that personal comments sometimes slip into the debate, as you pointed out so well.

Your response was excellent advice. I've tried to follow that route but occasionaly my temper overrides better judgement and it shows in a response. Each time I feel like I've lowered myself in an attempt to respond to something which should have simply been ignored.

Thanks again for the reminder and for such good advice.

Forums / User Gallery Acceptable Use Policy
================================================== ==================
Ford Truck Enthusiasts, Inc. reserves the right to change the terms
and conditions of the user agreement without prior notice to the
user. Notice of changes in the Acceptable Use Policy will be placed
the "Site Announcements" forum of the message boards.

Your continued use of this site following the posting of changes to
these terms will mean you accept those changes.

================================================== ==================
1. No Advertising

1.1 Posting commercial solicitations, advertisements, multi-level
marketing, competitive commercial web sites, phone numbers, web
site addresses, photos, testimonials or other content promoting
a business in which you are involved is strictly forbidden and
will result in immediate and possibly permanent revocation of
your posting privileges. This includes promotion of companies
in return for discounts, favors, free products, etc.

1.2 Vendors who are paying advertisers may include a web address,
mailing address and phone number in their signature and may
respond to questions about their products in a non-promotional
matter.

1.3 Vendors may not post misleading or false information.

1.4 We reserve the right to edit or remove postings which promote a
vendor's pricing.

1.5 Vendors who do not contribute to Ford Truck Enthusiasts or
otherwise sponsor the site are prohibited from using our site to
promote or support their products or services.

1.6 We reserve the right to remove or edit posts which promote web
sites or companies which compete with product offerings in our
online store, www.MotorHaven.com. Our online store is our
source of income and without it we would not be able to provide
our site for free.

1.7 For personal items for sale or trade, please use the Classifieds
section on this site. Any classified ads appearing the message
boards will be removed.

================================================== ==================
2. Be Courteous and Respectful

2.1 Do not post mean-spirited, vulgar, obscene, sexually explicit,
racial epithets, harassing, abusive, hateful, libelous,
expletives, derogatory or defamatory words or phases, in any
variation. Ford Truck Enthusiasts, Inc. is a family friendly
service and such content undermines that goal.

2.2 Use of symbols or characters to mask profanity and expletives is
prohibited and undermines the spirit of these guidelines.
Example: #@)$#&!# is allowed, "" or "@ss" are not allowed.

2.3 Do not repeatedly post any material that the moderators feel is
antagonistic to others or instigates non-productive conflict
between users.

2.4 Do not post any material or comment that is considered to be
"baiting" others into an unproductive conflict online. Baiting
is considered to be any post that intentionally badgers,
heckles, or leads another user(s) into an antagonistic
discussion.

================================================== ==================
3. Three Strikes You're Out. On a Discussion Forum of this size,
responsibility and accountability are important. The consequences
of non-compliance are outlined below:

3.1 One violation of the guidelines will usually warrant a notice to
kindly stop/correct the behavior.

3.2 Two violations will usually warrant a thirty-day suspension of
posting privileges.

3.3 Three violations and your posting privileges will be immediately
revoked.

Please note that we reserve the right to skip steps if we feel the
violation so warrants. FTE reserves the right to remove any
inappropriate post or terminate your posting privileges to the
Discussion Forums at any time, with or without prior notice.

================================================== ==================
4. Content

4.1 Post in the forum appropriate for your topic. Please do not
create excessive cross-posted messages.

4.2 Occasional recommendations of vendors by users is encouraged.
However excessive promotion of vendors (cheerleading) on the
forums does not provide actual content and may be subject to
removal.

4.3 You agree not to register with and/or post knowingly false or
misleading information.

4.4 Do not post articles, pictures or other content that you do not
have permission to post from the copyright holder.

4.5 Your signature may contain only Ford related content and links
to your personal web site.

4.6 Your User Gallery may not infringe or violate the trademark,
copyright, trade secret, patent or intellectual property of
another party. The User Gallery vehicle listing is intended to
showcase Ford trucks, vans and suvs ONLY. Any photo not of your
Ford truck, suv or van must be hidden from the gallery list and
may only be used for message board postings and Club FTE web
