One guy from gunsnet bought one, and it wouldn't cycle. He kept sending it back for repair (they havo NO WARRANTY, only a "repair policy"). Just to show you the kind of "repair policy" they have, they kept sending it back to him and telling him he was using the wrong ammo, even though I think he used the ammo they recommended (BTW, other ARs are a lot less finnicky than Hesse expects you to be in order to honor their policies). So he finally said screw it and took it to his gunsmith. And they found the problem.
AR-15s are gas operated. That means gas it tapped out of the barrel at some point to work the action. If you own any centerfire semi-auto rifles besides the HK/CETME design, I'm sure you know this already. Hesse must have forgotten one day because THEY DIDN'T DRILL THE STINKING GAS PORT INTO THE BARREL. This was after it was sent to them for repair multiple times.
Now some Hesse guns work, particularly their converted Saiga rifles, probably because they're already built and Hesse only converts them. Many who buy them, even those that work, say you have to open them up and clean the metal shavings out of them. To me that just shows plain carelessness. I could easily do it myself, but I won't buy from a company that shows such carelessness as to sell a rifle in that condition.
