repair parkerized finish?

I have a Ruger single six .22mag with a chipped parkerized finish. Is there any practical way to repair this, or should I just get used to the worn look? Appreciate any advice...

If your talking about the grip frame, I had the same problem on my Blackhawk. I tried touch up pens, paint etc. I ended up taking the grip frame off and stripping it to bare aluminum. I reinstalled it and it actually looks good, kind of two toned.

Thx for the info. I don't know yet what (if anything) I'll do abt the situation. How did you do the stripping? some sort of chemical remover or mechanical means (sanding, buffing, etc)?

It's been 12 years or so. I think I used Zip Strip, a common finish remover. It was a hard decision but the "paint" chiping off the grip frame was 'bout to drive me nuts. I'm happy with it and haven't looked back.

If you realy want to keep the finish, remove the grip frame, strip it and have someone apply a Urethane finish or powder coat. Remember to watch the dimensions where the grip frame fits to the gun too many mils of any coating may make the fit a booger. Urethane or powder will be durable and available local.

If you really want to get fancy. call up Robar and see what they can do.

Thx....

Jerry:
Thx for the info and the picture. If I decide to do anything, I'll strip the grip frame and maybe polish it up a bit. If that doesn't suit me, I can pursue another finishing technique.
Again, much obliged...Jim
