Scary Morning

I left my house at 3 am Saturday morning for a 2 hour drive to go duck hunting. Me and a buddy headed south down I-37 which leads from San Antonio to Corpus Christi. It is a divided highway (the roads are separated by about a 30 yard grass median)with each side having 2 lanes. Just outside of San Antonio, I see a car's headlights coming towards us. Before I could say "What the #@&%?" , it dawns on me that it is in my lane heading right for me. I have enough caffeine in my system now so I swerved my truck hard into the right lane. The car was probably moving about 80 and I was doing 70mph. We missed by mere feet and it almost clipped my boat. It shook me up to say the least, but I called 911 and reported it. My buddy found out later through a connection in the police dept., that they arrested a woman for drunk driving, reckless driving, endangerment, etc. That was just too close for comfort, so all of you early morning hunters watch yourselves out there on the road and no deer or whatever is worth getting in an accident, make sure you are awake enough to drive, or don't go. At that time of the morning there are 3 types of people on the road. Truckers, idiots, and drunk idiots. I did kill some ducks though.

Thumbs up

Glad that you're ok pmspinnerB8! That's too close for comfort.:jaw:

Your family, friends and your students need you to be safe, too. Of course, that goes for myself and the members on G&G as well.

You did the right thing by reporting the incident to LEO's. Might have saved someone's life.

Take care and glad that you're able to report back to us today safe and sound.

Ox:right:

Thanks 7mm, I did OK, worked out my old 870 a little bit. Got a black duck hen, 2 wigeon drakes, a green winged teal hen and two cinnamon teal drakes. Hadn't shot any cinny's down there in about 4 or 5 years so it ended on a good note. The scare proly woke me enough to shoot straight that early in the morning. Poor duckies.

Sure am glad you're OK, PM.

And, I'm also glad you had great reflexes to avoid a tragedy whereas some other might have become a statistic because of that idjet.

It's nice to know you had a successful hunt after that hair raising experience. Duck is goooodddddd!

After driving a truck for several years now, I can no longer count how many times I've nearly been tagged by some goofy a**hole on the wrong side of the road. Glad you're O.K.!
