| Senior Member ![]() | Ps. That's a long time ago, back when Chrysler rule the streets (hemi road runners, Gtx, Barracuda,ect.). Though it's a bit foggy now, I'm sure I remember! Hey, question, was that ad written on a stone tablet?

| Super Moderator ![]() ![]() | In 1968 I had a one year teaching contract for around $7,000. Drove a 62 VW and a brand new 2-door Buick LeSabra. The Buick cost $5,000. Also, that year I signed the mortgage for a new 1,400 sq. ft. house for $25,000.

| My take home pay was $52.40 a week in 1969. Still enough to buy a few nice guns on that lousy pay. But I wasted it all on girls and cars. Oxford was almost a millionaire back then! |

| Super Moderator ![]() ![]() | I wish! With a wife, one child and one on the way, and a choice of paying $150/month for rent or buying the house mentioned above with payments of $200/month...I felt broke for sure. Turned out to be the best investment of my lifetime. Still live in the same house now but wouldn't sell it for $150K with the 30 yr loan paid off free and clear.

| Could have bought maybe one listed gun a year. Delivering papers didn't pay much. Still doesn't.
