tapco scope mount

how well are they built? i have a fal carbine. i only intend to mount a RED dot site.

The latest version has bigger screws, which was a deficiency in the older version. However, IMO, there are better mounts for a little more money. I am particularly fond of the Williams Arms aluminum mount which slides in just like the original dustcover. These have a reputation for excellent return-to-zero. Another one I like, which is similar is the A.R.M.S. mount which is sold at mountsplus.com.

The problem with rail-type scope mounts is that the rails mar the finish on your FAL. The dustcover replacement style mounts don't affect the finish.
