ja ever see the GE jet engine commercial??? show the Wrights airplane, goes down the rail lifts off and theres a jet engine on top of the wing. and speeds down the NC coast.

still waiting for the reinactment to happen. weather has been a factor. first attempt was a flop. but i am sure the Wrights had their share of headaches too.

Anyone see the Nova special last night about the Red Baron? It showed the advancement in airplanes in just the first 4 years during WWI. Fokker and Van Richtoven had a huge impact on airplanes including the first "real" machine gun to shoot through the spinning propeller. Germany was shooting down 4 planes to our 1.
In 1905, Orville and Wilbur went to the military and recommended airplanes be used in battle. They were turned down! Might have been a lot different if the military took an interest in those "aeroplanes" before the war started.

Our military seemed to be alful slow until Dec 7, 1941. I guess they still move as quick as a three legged turtle. I am wondering when we will see the next generation rifle.
