I may have posted that about aol support, actually 9.0 optimized is pretty good, i called aol for some guidance and reached I think he said his name was bruce-----right--- in india more like raj i think, he was pretty smart I wonder what caste he was---the computer support caste I geuss, he helped me with some xp issues also he had to tell me 3 or 4 times to get through his accent, also I read in a recent article that india has 150 million people with advanced degrees mainly in technology, thats bigger than the entire work force of the us, ill spend my retirement asking if ---you want fries with that?

...and about half of those men are named Raj. Lots of time there's a RajKumar involved in their names. Must be their custom or something.

Yep...there's a lot of Indians there. Last count there were over 1,117,000,000 Indians divided up among different caste's. 150,000,000 with advanced degrees seems high to me. To me that would mean people with higher than a baccalaurete degree. All who go to school there speak more than one language with English always being one of them.

Wonder what the ratio of man to cow is there? Or monkey to man? They seem to allow them to take over sometimes. :jaw: :right:

Thumbs up From my personal experiences...

...to move on, overlooking the Liss thing(ha), but not forgotten...I'll comment more on India.

I personally have a lot of respect for several people from India whom I've gotten to know. Through Rotary International I've had a Rotary Group Study Exchange young man of around 30 yrs old stay in my home for about four days as a house guest. Victor Rajkuman, his name, was a marketing professor from Pondicherry University, which is in the southeastern part of India.

Victor spoke absolutely perfect English. Made me sound like someone from the strong midwest (hey...that's where I learned to speak). His religion was christian. Seems that next to Hindu and Moslum, Christians are the largest denomination of religion in India.

Anyway, he was bright, polite, very personable, and was very interesting as a house guest. We had long talks about every subject with nothing being avoided. Unfortunately, his luggage had been lost in his flight here so I gladly loaned him a few things till his baggage arrived. He had had polio when he was younger and walked with a gimp. His manners were impeccable during his visit and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed his short visit. He would be welcome back anytime.

Eventually he visited other parts of Missouri for five weeks before returning to India. We still communicate via email regularly.
----------

Then, during an 18 day motorcoach tour of central Europe in 1998, my wife and I and 49 other tourists made up with tourists from many countries, including India, traveled together and got very well acquainted. One requirement for that bus trip was that everyone had to speak English.

Anyway, one couple that my wife and I probably enjoyed the most was a man and wife from India. Both were Hindu. He wore westernized cloths and she wore the typical Hindu wrap around garb. Both were medical doctors, he being an orthopedic surgeon and she being an obstretician. She spoke several languages, which was to our advantage when in some of the Eruopean countries, and was very helpful to us.

During the course of the journey my wife and I had numerous opportunities to sit with them during meals and other times where we discussed absolutely every subject imaginable...nothing was avoided. They were very open minded and intelligent and could carry on very interesting discussion with us.

However, on one question he didn't give me the answer I expected to hear. I had asked him bluntly about India's caste system and he politely denied that this system still existed. Woops! I'm not that stupid. After a few other comments I relized he was in denial and there was no point in continuing that line of discussion. Since returning I've verified that the caste system is still very much in effect, as much as some of the higher caste people would like to deny the fact. As an example of just one caste practice, a person must marry within his/her own caste, but may marry up one level if the dowry is sufficient. Also, the oldest sibling must marry first. Then the others in succession.

My wife and I still communicate with that couple via Email. They have a son who is a doctor in Houston, too. One day they may visit us and we welcome that opportunity to see them again.
----

Yes, I have a lot of respect for people from India. When given the opportunity to advance themselves they are highly motivated and usually successful. There's absolutely too much poverty in India which locks millions of people into terrible living conditions. I could not imagine why they wouldn't jump at the opportunity to work for foreign companies who want their services and pay more than they will ever get locally. I don't blame them for taking those jobs...However, I do blame American companies for the greed their corporate policy makers exhibit by outsourcing American jobs in order to keep their stock values appealing to new investors.
