Arrow NFL now Packs

NFL: Players nowadays pack more than shoulder pads
Mike Freeman NYT Saturday, December 27, 2003
excerpt:

"I think the vast majority of players in the NFL have guns," said Brown, who retired at the end of last season. "Just about every guy I played with in the NFL had a gun. Almost every player I knew had one. Guns are rampant in football. You have all these players packing guns wherever they go.

.
But even though possessing guns has become increasingly common, many players say, they are not searched rigorously when entering stadiums and practice complexes."

I can see it now...Ref's take a time out to preview the previous play looking for someone packin, as if getting hit by a 330 pounder wasn't enough.

"Premature discharge. Fifteen yard penalty. Number 68, defense. First down."

I'm sure it would've been only a ten yard penalty if it had been an accidental discharge.

Hold on a while Sparrow...we're just getting started.

Then the ref's will do an examination of the load used while packin on the field. They're allowed to pack with 15 grains more for every lard butt over 300 on their opponents team.

Next, there will be a penalty for using the gun butt when in the pile-up. No discharging allowed there. That's another penalty.:gangster: :jaw:

(in Al Michael's voice) "John, we have a red review flag thrown."

(in John Madden's voice) "Al, I think the big question is going to be is if he had his finger on the trigger when he put it in the running back's face. Now, by the rules, he can shove the muzzle in the face in the first five yards but he can't put his finger on the trigger."

"After review, the ruling on the field stands. The defender DID pull his gun but did not put his finger on the trigger until out of the five yard safety zone. However, there will be a ten yard penalty. The review shows the defense was using a 9MM in a .45 caliber zone.

First down."

The ultimate penalty is for getting your load off while in a pile-up with your hand on the gun.:jaw:

I've probably gone too far already. Jesse or Chris will probably be shutting me down if I don't clean up my act. There's a lot of guys under 60 on this forum who might get embarassed.

To get serious for a minute if I had their kind of money I would carry all the time also. These guys are all MILLIONAIRES with some having some pretty shady backgrounds and contacts. Even if you are clean and respectable the third string punter may have a drug dealer POed at him for not paying off last week's party and they aren't knowing for their marksmanship... Then you always have the low life bookies trying to cover bets, what better way then to knock off the opposing quarterback? Crime always follows the money.

...and there were plenty of crimes committed yesterday on the NFL gridirons by players who enjoyed stealing (the ball) and physically abusing those pampered millionaires.

You gotta laugh when they're interviewed later as they whine about bad calls against them. Guess that's another reason for them to be packin on the field. The ref makes a bad call and the unhappy player pulls out his iron to nullify the penalty. Ref announces there was a mistake in the penalty called. Play continues. Game speeds up. No brawls occur.
