Talking 458 and 17HMR 100 yard pic

Just got back from the range...fired 65 458 win mag rounds and 100 .17HMR....Had to sight the 458 in at 50yards with the scope....talk about off took 4 shoots to hit paper......any way The pictures are from my "best" groups.....so of the worse look like birdshot at 100 yards Both rifles shoot from a ammo box towel type rest....Tasco 3x9 scope on both rifles....

The 458 is useing 300Grain JHP handloads.....the .17HMR seemed too like CCI and Remington ammo alot better than the Hornaday ammo...go figure

The 458 is a CZ550 and the .17 is a Marlin 17V.

Pic are labled by calaber

The Coin in all the Pic is a Quarter by the way

Been doing a lot of reading on the 17. and 204 Ruger. Sub calibers seem to be the thing now, even helping the 17 Remington out a bit.
As far as the 17 HMR, it seems a bullet mfg. could have used existing technology to come up with a .22 bullet in similar construction to the HMR out of the .22 mag. Mabe they did and it didn't work out?
It would be kind of a cool concept, about a 20 grain polycarbonite tipped projectile from a .22 mag case being able to be fired in existing .22 mag guns.

Not realy BR3G....reloads cost me around 22cents per shot....about the same as the .17HMR (Bullet remington JHP $11 per 100 so.11 +1.5cents for Primer and 10 cent for powder) .17HMR is $11 or 50 so about the same price....wish I could use cast but the 2200fps is too much for plain lead... Factory ammo..El-Cheao winchester would have been aroun $90 (40 per 20rounds)...finaly saveing $$ by reloading

Very "not bad"! Each Hummer rifle has it's preferences - mine likes the Hornady best, though the CCI is still good.
Other guys find their gun likes the CCI best, or the Federal.
I haven't had the chance to try Remington or Federal ammo yet.
My Wally only carries the CCI, but I can get the Hornady at our local gunshow. One shop I know has it, but the shyster wants $15 a box!!
I'm willing to pay good money for good ammo, but I ain't Bubba Gates - the paycheck only goes so far.

It would be mighty interesting to see that big-bore roll a deer or two!

Great to here the reloading is saving you -- if it weren't for my reloading I would have been in the poor house with all the caliber's I have.
