Remanufactured Ammo

really just reloads. there used to be a bunch of companies in the SGN that sold reloaded ammo for the common calibers, or send them your fired cases for an even cheaper price. any clues to why they have disappeared???

A guy in Tucson used to do this at his business, I think the insurance drove him out of competativeness.

Liability is a big issue that all of us have dealt with and my response is to stay with SAAMI standards -- that way the customer is safe and the equipment is safe

Amen Shaun! You may have seen another post on one of BRG3's threads where I made a comment about sticking to the SAAMI charts. I also suggested to G3 knowing he's an engineer and prone to experiment as a lot of us are - if you want to play, clamp the firearm and tie a string to the trigger. Discharge from a safe distance preferably behind cover.
I have been working on a test fixture for some friends who load .50 stuff just for this basic reason. The "reciever" is basically a solid 6" square block with the bolt made out of an honest-to-goodness 1" BOLT! The barrel will be fitted back into the block to allow the chamber area to have a scatter shield around it. I will subsequently install pressure probes in the chamber to record camber pressures but am still looking at gauging and hardware for that
You're right about the liability for sure. Anyone in business of anykind anymore neds to go about their daily routine with the full belief that there is a bus load of lawyers around the corner waiting on a call.
Of course you know the difference between lawyers and catfish right?
One's a scum sucking bottom feeder, the other one's a fish!

Max contact Sierra thats basically the system the enginners use there for testing -- I know if I have a load in question for the wildcats they will run the tests for me -- I tell everyone to go to the SAAMI site and verify there loads if they are goping to extremes

I've seen Black Hills Ammo for sale on the web. They produce both remanufactured and new ammo. I've never shot any, but they seem to have a pretty good selection of calibers and types.
