I ran some 9mm ammunition through my Sig 226 for accuracy and decided to chronograph the results. I used both my Sig barrel (4.6" barrel) and my new Bar-Sto barrel (4.7" barrel). I used a Beta Chrony for the test.
Winchester 9mm 115gr. JHP Personal Defense (White Box)
Sig barrel: 1145, 1152, 1167, 1153, 1151fps... 1153.6 fps avg.
The Remington +p+ load was HOT! It was faster than the Cor-Bon +p load. I had both Sig pistols sprung at 18# (226) and 19# (225) to help slow down the slide velocity.
The Sig barrel in the 226 shot the standard pressure 9mm to the point of aim at 10 meters
The higher pressure 9mm shot to the point of aim through the Bar-Sto barrel in the 226 at 10 meters.
With both barrels I was able to fire no worse than 3" groups handheld at 10 meters, (at dusk in the twilight).
The Sig 225 showed little muzzle flip with the high pressure 9mm loads which was surprising. (The Sig 226 actually exhibited more!)
