hmmmmm...whacha think bout this?

my gunshop guy called me yesterday, and said that he has to call everyone who has bought a gun from him in the last three years and have them come in and fill in some paper work. when i asked why he said he has a little ATF trouble. whacha think the problem is?

You should ask him directly, since it involves you personally. The ATF could scrutinize you because of his mistakes. I would definitely try to get the ful story.

Its hard telling. I know some shops have gone through great lengths to meet BATF rules as interpretted by the latest "GO-CHA" fad. County spelled out in full? All answers spelled out Y-E-S or N-O instead of Y or N? Address is a numbered street, not Route 2, Box 10? Way to many little things that can get you in trouble.

I don't know if I'd put it past the BATF to do that for kicks or to make it look like they're doing something useful.

I agree, get the full story, but there should be no legal compulsion. I see no grounds for the BATF to require this, much less for them to use him to request that you do it.

I would be very suspicious and assertive of my rights.

if the GunShop has a problem, i don't see what the customer has to do with it.

i would seek some legal counsel before filling in/signing anything.:nod:

well guys i asked him flat out what it was about on the phone but he had customers in the shop and couldnt talk,but he said that it was "his problem" not mine so im not worried about me...just dont wanna lose my gunshop! im sure it will be nothing...perhaps he didnt file something right or like yall said he may just have paper trouble...who knows? just keep your fingers crossed that i dont lose my gunshop guy! lol it would be an awful long drive to find another and i dont like the guy who runs that one anyway.
