Talking Hi-Point 40 and 45 cal Carbine News

Its bad when Im on a first name bases with Hi-Point...still dont get free stuff But here is the e-mail I got from Hi-Point about the 40 and 45 acp Carbines

Bob,

We are expecting our first shipments any day of the 40sw. Really,, we aren't lying to you guys on purpose,,, its just that,,, well stuff happens. Had a few holdups up at the manufacturers then the rifle had to go through its long course of test firing all of the production to be sure no problems came out. To make things more interesting, we are doing a double duty thing wherein the 40 and the 45 are being developed at the same time. BUT! the 45 won't be on the market for quite a few months after you se the 40 on the dealer shelves.

Hope this helps explain. BY the way,,, if you want a 40sw any time soon I hope you have a firm order with a gunstore by now. They are going to be so hard to get for many many months.:assult:

Sweeeeeet!!!

I need one in 40 to complement my Steyr M40.

Oh yeah, this is BattleRifle on SRX's computer , not SRX speaking of G3's pistol as her own...

NRAJoe's fondest dream:
BRG3 grafts the synthetic AK74 furniture onto a Hi-point Carbine.
It'd be in NRAJoe's gunlocker in no time!

Try one, Joe. You'll like it.

BR3G I sent them an e-mail about makeing the 45acp carbine so that it uses 1911 magazines...I hope they do so.....They seem to like to use their own design to prevent hi-cap magazines from being used....so who knows..

Well, a proprietary design makes sense if you're designing a single stack gun while everyone else is doing double stack, but to exclude the most common and affordable magazine because a few hi caps were made seems dumb even for a lib company. I mean, what mags to they really think people are going to primarily use in them? I have found 1911 hi-caps to be unreliable at best, non functional as the norm. The reason people want to use 1911 mags is that they're standard.

Thumbs up

BRG, that isn't bad at all!

Actually, the Hi-Point kind of reminds me of a shorter stubbier Remington Nylon on steroids.

Has anybody had good luck with those long 15-round 1911 mags on the market? I've heard some bad things about them, but it would go well in the Carbine. I have some ten-rounders by Mecgar, and they work very well.

Once in a while I hear people claim that they work. I have never seen them work reliably, when they work at all. If I got a 1911 I'd get 10rd tops for the range, but mostly the GI 7 rounder, since good ones can be had for so little. If I needed more than 10rd, I'd get a widebody.

Why wait? If you want a .45 carbinr that uses 1911 mags, the Mech Tech carbine upper (no FFL required!) is just the ticket! Pop out the slide stop pin, pull off the slide, and lock your 1911 lower into the Mech Tech upper - vwala - a .45 carbine that uses 1911 mags! I luv mine! I think it's one of the neatest 1911 accessories to ever come along!

See, a .45 carbine that uses 1911 mags, SWEET!

I know they have 'em for Glocks and maybe one other semi-auto pistol mfr. too.

Mec Tec = $350 + 1911 frame

Hi point 9mm = $150, Hi Point says 40 will be $10 or $20 more, so I'm guessing Hi Point 45 Carbine = $200ish.
Also much lighter weight.

That's a big deal to a poor young guy like me.

i plan on having my local gunshop get mine from the net. i just need to find a company with them in stock. buying the ati stock will make it less ugly though.
