But most people say that "almost" all handguns have to go through a break in period. Mine didn't, when I brought mine I took it home, cleaned all oil out of it and took it to the indoor range. I shot 300 rounds of the cheap Walmart white box ammo and I didn't have one jam or mis-fire or any other problems whats so ever. And the review in Gun-Tests speaks for it's self.

Me to .What he said and I have around 900 through mine. Under $400.00 two months ago
I also have a pt111 in ss. and same thing.
Great weapons for the dollar.

But thats just me

Love my Tauruses, especially the Judges and the PT-145. Their new 1911 looks like an excellent gun and value for the money.

However, Given the $ and choice for the 92FS I very much think the Beretta has a great edge in durability and reliability. It was hard to argue with the ruggedness and reliablity of our M9's--it's just that the caliber sucked when restricted to non expanding ball ammo.

Mooseman,
Your opinion on the Taurus may be correct, i am new to post but i need help with trigger pull on my 24/7 compact 9mm. i shoot southpaw and it consistently is low and slightly to the right, 8-9 ring. i know it is trigger jerk but i feel like i am pulling forever. is there anything you know on shortning trigger distance or decreasing lb? I shoot consistent with my 45 so i can do it right sometimes. any suggestions

Not that I know of due to the design...having a good gunsmith polish the sear and trigger contact surface may make it a bit lighter/crisper..

Taurus rough sloppy internal machining ?

I have worked on More Taurus Guns needing repair, but seldom have a Beretta come in for more than a cleaning . I have seen the internal machining of the Taurus guns and it SUCKS...Very rough and sloppy in a lot of cases.
Beretta's on the other hand are good craftsmanship and perfect tolerances.

Odd....I'm looking at the inside of my Taurus Pt92 and 911 models right now, the inside machining looks smooth to me. Anyway, even if the difference in price wasn't a consideration, I'd still buy the Taurus because I like the thumb safety function and location on the frame, rather than the Beretta's european style up on the slide, which just doesn't feel right and is harder to engage. Ya get a couple more rounds magazine capacity also, 17 versus 15.

Here's a picture of my latest addition, the PT911, certainly looks like a well-made pistol:

Taurus International Manufacturing Inc

Pretty with all the gold trim and such, ain't it?
