| BRG i have a bullet for you
my boss went to the manufactures convention this weekend in reeding pa. he brought back info on a new round they are working on for the m16 its a 7.62 x 39 case necked down to 6.5 sweed. its only travleing at 2600 fps but has only a 14.8 inch drop at 600 yrds. that would be a big improvment since the 223 after 300 yrds couldn't knock a sick whore off a p i s s pot. if i can get the stuff to scan right i'll post it soon.

Sounds pretty cool, like they have a bullet with a high ballistic coefficient with enough powder to pack a punch. I think the 7,62x39mm bolts available for the ARs combined with the longer action than necessary for 7.62x39mm provide lots of opportunities for new cartridges.

I'd be a bit concerned over that 14.8 inch drop over 600 yards figure.....perhaps it was meant to read that the new (6.5mm projectile, 7.62x39 necked-down case) round would only drop 14.8 inches more than the existing military 62 grain .223 round at 600 yards. If that "new" cartridge (with a 2600fps muzzle velocity) were fired in a vacuum (ignoring the ballistic coefficient and drag), it would drop over 7 feet while travelling a distance of 600 yards (assuming an operational altitude at roughly sea level). |

no the atricle reads that "with a 100 yrd zero the bullet drop at 600 yrds is a remarkable 14.8 inches."

Why build a "new" cartrige...got 308, 270 7mm 45/70 (full auto 45/70 would be cool).....that are proven, not factory re-tooling (and subsaquent prices past on)....AR-10 chambered fro the 308 so even got a design already.....seems like they are solveing a problems by wasteing $$$ instead of looking at existing tecnology. OH droping only 14 inches at 600yrds not at 2000 or even 3000FPS.....would have to be some serious FPS to pull that off. That be a long shot too make |

I like the 45/70 Full Auto concept! The ultimate Urban Assault Weapon......come on out, or we'll literally blow your house down! And, we don't need to drag out our heavy (but truly wonderful) M-2 .50 cal. to do that!!:assult: :full: :full: |

| Super Moderator ![]() | www.tromix.com has something close. It's called 458 SOCOM, chambered in AR-15s, and it is roughly equivalent to 45/70. Single stacks in double stack AR mags.

It does not appear that they state anything about the .26 Grendel on their site, except that it is under development. However, that .50 Beowolf seems to fit the bill for our 45/70 assault rifle. An AR-15 style weapon, like that 458 SOCOM that BattleRifleG3 mentioned. Neat stuff. Didn't Beowolf (of legend) swim across the Baltic Sea.......or, was that PapaG........? |

By the way, Tromix.com describes the effect of their 458 SOCOM uppers when combined with a registered or dealer sample full auto lower.
