Sen. Hillary Clinton Makes List Of 25 Toughest Guys

NEW YORK -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's been called many things -- savvy politician, devoted wife. But Men's Journal magazine is adding one more description to that list: Tough Guy.

In its March issue, the magazine published its annual list of "25 Toughest Guys in America," and the former first lady weighed in at No. 25 in the honorable mention area. It's the first time Men's Journal has put a woman in the spot, but senior editor Tom Foster said Mrs. Clinton deserved the honor.



Foster said Sen. Clinton is on the list because of what she's been through and what she represents.

He cites the White House intern sex scandal and the subsequent impeachment effort as examples. Foster asked, "Would you mess with her?"


Hillary Clinton wrote about the pain caused by the president's affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky and the subsequent impeachment effort in "Living History," her White House memoir.

Foster said Clinton's listing -- among athletes, martial artists, racers and wrestlers -- isn't an insult, adding that he thinks it's a compliment.


Sen. Clinton is No. 25, right after human crash test dummy Rusty Haight, who has been in 740 car wrecks. Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre tops the tough guy list.

Steve-O, Jet Li and Mel Gibson also made the list.

And, on the list of "wannabe" tough guys -- you'll find Ben Affleck, Geraldo Rivera, Colin Farrell, animal guy Steve Irwin and Steven Seagal.
