Father Cleared Of Punching Man Harrassing Daughter

YORK, Pa -- Prosecutors are dropping charges against a father who allegedly punched a man for accosting his teenage daughter while she was shopping at a Wal-Mart in York.
Officials said the 17-year-old girl was shopping for nail polish July 3 when Armondo Hernandez offered her $200 to $300 for sex. She refused and called her father, 50-year-old Jimmy Hunt, of York Township. He arrived 10 to 15 minutes later and punched Hernandez in the face, knocking him to the floor. Jimmy Hunt then called 911.
York County prosecutor Bill Graff said the evidence would show that Hunt punched Hernandez, but he said it would be difficult to get a jury to convict him of disorderly conduct and simple assault.
Graff said you can't take the law in your own hands, but some parents would say even though Hunt was in the wrong that is what they would do if that was their daughter. Prosecutors offered Hunt a plea bargain earlier and he refused, saying a jury would understand his actions.
The 39-year-old Hernandez, of York, has already pleaded guilty to indecent assault and harassment.

Dropping the charges against Mr. Hunt is simply not enough. Mr. Hunt should also be provided a $100 gift certificate to Cabela's, a 6-pack of Budweiser, and a framed photograph of himself shaking hands with the police officer while the handcuffed Armondo waits patiently in the background.

I can imagn me on the jury....would have had him demonstrate over and over on the dirtball how he hit him...then compared that level of force to the bailf wacking the dirt ball with night sticks......the aquited him.....The man showed a lot of restraint in my book.....
