Thumbs down Another victim of employment issues here

A "good" rumor I will be demobilized/deactivated after a year on active duty. I get to go back to my sales job I like fine before leaving it. I initally lost money being activated loosing a couple of big jobs on commission. Well the commission jobs are long gone and the day to day don't look good with my replacement.

Looks like 5 years of work down the tubes and get to start over.

Big problem is, I love making aerospace vehicles fly. I got off on going to the war again. (with the exception of being away from wife and kids). I get a big woody when I walk in and somethings broke with a mission waiting to go down. I soppose I'm a 38 year old man with an adrenilin problem.

All in all I'd just like to go back and kick some more butt!

just a thought jerry, but its a small leap to just go regular air force? and youd have a job with security and youd be back in the sh@t. personally i wish i had never left the army.

Its because elections are fast approaching. Its all political B.S. The Bush administration is now backing away from its 2+ million new job prediction...

Never want a job again - Be Self Employed.
There has to be something you enjoy, at least a little bit, try and find some way to turn that into your own Business.
I have been Self Employed for 6+ years now, no boss to tell me anything(other than the customers, they are my boss), I decide where the company is going, I get the rewards.

I had 10 yrs active. Took the SSB (severance pay) would have to pay that back 25k, plus loose the stripe I got in the Guard.

If i understood you, you ae also too old. i think the cut off age is 34, after that, you're too old. Anyway, sorry to hear of your troubles. it's hitting everyone. Same crappola at my place O employement. I think the job market is in the -------! I recall the ranting about Klinton's great service to America with all the hamburger flipper jobs. Yeah, great. If the relitive costs were equal, and a flipper job would pay my bills, that would be just find. problem is, we need executive pay to meet our bills now! That's why we need three people in a household to work and pay for the minimum and insurence!

Ps. Last night, on the way to work.....saw it again! Gasoline up 2 more pennies! Now. $1.61.......

Jerry if your doing flight maint. work - what is the possibility of starting your own maint. business at a local FBO. To me it seems there is a need for good tech's and I have seen a lot of that lately with the fact I am looking at getting my Private Lic. and then maybe a small plane.

Sorry to hear of the troubles. What don't kill ya only makes you stronger!

Jobs, jobs, jobs, I am one of the fortunate ones for now, still have my job. But we have been losing way to many jobs. But thats what happens when we get a crooked piece for president and lets his big business buddies send jobs to their off shore sweat shops.

Would need to go to school to get an A&P Shaun, possible to do, but if I could get to school, I'd finished my degree by now. I know it can be done, but I can only do about 3~4 things at once

Thumbs up

Jerry...Good luck Brother! That's a bummer for sure. Isn't right for sure. Here you've put your life on the line for us civilians...and to be facing economic crises for covering our arses...that's not right.

Just remember, you're still young. Even though you may not think so with they way they're treating you, people your age have a whole lot more to look forward to than they realize.

Shaun may be on to something with his suggestion of creating your own business using the knowledge and skills you've previously learned. Hey...lots of successful businesses have started out of necessity when someone left the security of a regular paycheck.

On the other hand, maybe something acceptable will become available through the connections you've developed over the years.

Hey...maybe DANA would be willing to train you for a totally different type of work. You could use those cowboy boots when climbing telephone poles.

Good luck.

Yeah, I love those boots, no pole climbing there. Hey, I knew what I was getting into. Gotta take the good with the bad. I guess I'm lucky to have some sort of a job to go back to, albeit I'm not as jazzed about going back in march as I was back in May.

The connections are an important aspect. I have to say, my company and boss have been great through this whole thing.

Iv'e spoken to people with thier own business. I admire the person who can press on with that. Sometimes it is easier to work for someone and let them deal with specific issues

Sure, Dana, I'm looking
