| Senior Member ![]() | A helful tid bit of info for mailing packages to troops We need the help of all your bases to conduct a little publicity campaign on proper addressing of military mail going overseas. A bleep in the daily bulletins or base newspaper should suffice. Due to persons improperly addressing mail, we are finding increasing numbers of military addressed mail in the international mail network. This mail is being severely delayed and may in some cases be lost. Please advise all that geographic locations should not be included on the envelope's address side with the APO number. The APO number is all that is required. By placing the geographic location along with an APO number, the optical readers and scanners immediately pick up the name of the country and send the item to the international processing section. A proper address would be: Sgt XYZ 1 CS/CSX APO AE 09301 An incorrect address would be: Sgt XYZ 1 CS/CSX APO AE 09301 Baghdad, Iraq The geographic locations should not be anywhere on the envelope. Thanks for the help Just some FYI. jerry
