Finally, the moment we've waited for has arrived.

The 2004 election year has officially begun and, with it, comes our opportunity to assert Democratic ideals in a national campaign. This is our chance to boldly and decisively move America in a new direction.

Let's make the most of it. Let's use every day we have -- and every ounce of energy we can muster -- to win a decisive victory for the Democratic Party -- and America -- this November.

As I write, the contest for the Democratic presidential nomination is entering its most intensive stage. Some of us have chosen to focus all of our attention on preparing the Party for November, on setting the stage for our eventual nominee's success. Others are enthusiastically backing one of the many excellent candidates who have stepped forward.

Whichever path you personally have taken, it is vitally important that you immediately lend your financial support to the critical next phase of the Democratic National Committee's 2004 Victory Action Plan.

Every Democrat from every corner of our Party has to step forward right now and help. There can be no waiting, no hesitation, no thinking that preparing for the general election is something we can get around to once we know who will be our nominee.

I'll tell you this: The Republican National Committee isn't waiting. They're stockpiling tens of millions of dollars with only one purpose in mind: to deliver a devastating political blow to our nominee as soon as one is chosen.

It's the only way they can win -- and we cannot let them get away with it. Our Republican opponents know that they can't possibly succeed if they run on their record. They'd be trying to defend the indefensible.

They can't defend a relentless obsession with tax cuts for the wealthy during an administration with the worst economic record since Herbert Hoover. They can't explain environmental policies that would give polluters more freedom to dirty our air and timber companies more opportunity to ravage the last roadless areas in our national forests.

They can't defend their senseless attacks on civil liberties, needless provocations on civil rights, and dangerous tactics in foreign policy.

They can't defend the many ways they have moved America in the wrong direction and, chances are, they won't try to. Instead they'll go on the attack, tearing down our candidate from day one.

It's our job to help our presidential candidate and other Democrats caught up in tight races fight their way through to victory. We've got to be with them every step of the way, unfailing in our loyalty, unyielding in our determination.

Believe me, we have a powerful story to tell in this election -- and, if you and other key Democratic Party supporters stand by our candidates, we'll get that story out to voters all across America -- and we'll win.

But it won't be easy. The Republicans will have over a half a billion dollars at their disposal -- more money than any presidential campaign in history -- and a willingness to do whatever it takes to prevail.

Let's show them what we're made of -- demonstrate how a Party acts when it has the strength of its convictions.

They'll try to win by disguising their ideology and intentions. But we'll carry the day by proclaiming our principles and making it crystal clear where we intend to lead America.

They'll try to win by avoiding the truth. But we'll shout it from the rooftops.

I know you have done a great deal already to support our Party as we prepare for one of the most critical elections in history. But, I urge you to get our 2004 efforts off to a strong start by sending an immediate donation in as generous an amount as you can possibly afford.

If not the NRA then who? And have you looked at all the battles they fight? If you are an NRA member there are ways to contribute without sending them more money with every letter.

And have you called them and asked them to save the postage and take you off the mailing list?

i agrre sniper, i send out all kids of email and mailing for the NRA every mounth without sending them a dime, i also contribute when i can, but they know the econemy here bites the big one.

Yep. But every since I became a Heritage Member I'm seen as a deep pocket contributor (sorry boys barking up the wrong tree).

I've been a officer in some form or another on the Friends of the NRA since 1998, the group gets about $500 to $1000 a year in cash and about 40 to 80 hrs of my time. I actually see results from those efforts. The only reason I stay a member of the NRA is guilt. When I see them sending letters of thanks to TOM DASCHLE it really makes me wonder who the Hell I'm in league with.

They want to compromise to much of MY liberties for their own good.

You watch, no matter what gets plastered onto the manufacturers immunity bill the NRA will back it, they won't say it publicly but they won't be going after the senators to kill the bill if it extends the AWB. They don't care, as long as they get their immunity bill passed the NRA doesn't care if the AWB gets made permenant. There is also a no gun show rider attached to it, well not yet but they will attach it today for sure.

i kinda agrre stopper, i'm not for alot of the politics taht the nra pulls but they know how to play the game better than i do and right now they are the only voice anyone in washington listens to when it comes to our rights as gun owners, if we don't suport them AND tell them what we don't like we are all kissing the second amendment good by.

Start puckering up, from what I have read the NRA has made manufacturer's immunity its #1 priority and the Hell with individual rights, AWB sunset and private owner transactions. Looks like the NRA is looking out for the big boys and screw the individual members.

If this situation dusts out the way it looks like it going to instead of just throwing away those mailings from the NRA I might have to start treating them the same way I treat my wife's NEA mailings.

Bill (or should I say HIllary),
Your former presidency failed to do anything for this country in a positive manner. You left the country in a recession and blamed one of the greatest presidents we have had since Reagan for causing it. You gutted our military and as a result it caused major morale and logistal problems for the future of our great country.

The second issue I have with you trying to promote Kerry, a coward and traitor in his own right, is that here you are praising him for serving the country in Vietnam yet you are an admitted coward and draft dodger. This brings me to the issue that your party leader Terry McAllif has made false accusation of AWOL against President Bush who served this country as a pilot during Veitnam and if air to air aircraft were required I am sure Bush would have been gladly accepting of the assignment overseas.

During your 8 years in office you tried to take away many of our rights as stated in the Constitution of this country while promoting your own agenda. I like many of my associates believe that the constitution and the Bill of Rights are a set of documents that specifically detail our god given rights to free speech, gun ownership(at all levels), protection against search and seizure and self incrimination, etc..... In the future you may want to study these points and recognize that if you want to live in a socialist society where peoples god given rights to freedom are not recognized that there are places that will welcome you. Since China is one of your biggest supporters please feel free to move to that country and what socialized country is like.
