Angry Time to contact them again...

March 8, 2004

Let the political elite know you are watching them!

Operating -- apparently -- on the proposition that taxes are too low,
the Republican chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee
recently moved out of his committee a long-stalled treaty which would
allow international bureaucrats to tax the American people. That treaty
is now positioned for a vote by the Senate; likely by a voice vote which
means senators can avoid taking a recorded position on the issue.

It is not hard to see why the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) has festered
for over 20 years without being ratified by the United States:

1. LOST would hand over to international bureaucrats the power to regulate
70% of the world’s resources;
2. LOST would give international bureaucrats the power to assess taxes on
the United States;
3. LOST would provide for a multi-national court system to enforce its
provisions; and,
4. LOST would ratify assertions of communist China that the treaty
confers jurisdiction over the South China Sea and, by inference, Taiwan.

Not surprisingly, supporters are attempting to sneak this abomination
through the Senate after a "kangaroo court" hearing where treaty opponents
were prohibited from testifying.

Even though conservatives have blocked ratification for 22 years, Washington
liberals now claim that the treaty is "uncontroversial" just because this
internationalist committee chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee
was successful in bludgeoning committee members to support it.

Your quick action is essential. Supporters of LOST are attempting to sneak
this anti-American treaty through the Senate quietly and quickly. Tell your
U.S. senators to oppose the Law of the Sea Treaty today. Let's show the
political elite in Washington that we are watching what they do. To send
