Cool No surprise to me...

While I will admit, since we are'nt in Japan-days gone by, a sword would be a pretty hard thing to hide! And, i suppose, it would also make for a fiendishly bloody attack! Since the news report suggets thier have been multiple attacks with swords, bloody and murderous, i guess.....reluctently.....banning is a bad word....so let's say: They, attacks by sword, Should be treated as any other particularly violent crime and the bad guy, charged accordingly.

Question Well,duh,

If the population is denied guns,I guess the next best thing would be a sword, king of hard to whip out a bow and arrow.
I would think the sale of bayonets, especially the sword type would be going up. if they want cleaner murders they should bring back guns, pistols would be more appropriate for defensive carry.

I guess when they take away the swords it won't be too long before illegal posession of a rock will get you thrown in jail!

Thumbs down

In reading the following quote from the story that Jesse posted,

"...Huy Huynh, 19, was chased from the Salt nightclub and hacked to death nearby in July 2002 by a mob using samurai swords and machetes. The new laws will make it illegal to sell swords to anyone who does not have a permit. Sword sellers will have to keep a register of buyers' details and make it available for police to inspect"...

Guns and swords are not the enemies of the population's. It's the violent perps who use these tools without caring who they hurt or kill.

Yet...laws will be made which ban those items, regardless of the fact that perps will still use them without licenses.

It's a bad law.

It seems so obvious that gun control or weapon control just does not work, why do some people continue to continue to push for gun control? If this is not a perfect example, now that the people Australia have been denied guns they go for the next best weapon, the sword, and when the sword are gone then knives, then Baseball bats, then logs, then rocks. Why can’t these liberals see that it is not the weapon that kills it is people?

What they will eventually have is a law that is written to the following format:

It is unlwful for any person to possess any item that may be deemed a weapon or which may inflict damage similar to any other weapon or to use any item in a manner in which may resemble a weapon or cause damage similar to another weapon. The above statute is enacted without any regard to the referred item's shape, composition, size, intent, use or original manufactured function.

Now as a cop I can just simply walk down the street and arrest anyone I want because that law has outlawed everything.

Pencils
Clothes
Food
Toys
Paper
Cars
Sand
YOU (hands, feet, arms, legs)

See what a safe society we have here!
