DAYTON, Tenn. — Rhea County (search) commissioners unanimously voted to ask state lawmakers to introduce legislation amending Tennessee's criminal code so the county can charge homosexuals (search) with crimes against nature.
"We need to keep them out of here," said Commissioner J.C. Fugate, who introduced the motion.
County Attorney Gary Fritts also was asked by Fugate to find the best way to enact a local law banning homosexuals from living in Rhea County.
The Rhea County action came after the Senate Judiciary Committee (search) voted 7-1 Tuesday for a bill that would prohibit legal recognition of civil unions and domestic partnerships among homosexuals in Tennessee. Gay marriages already are prohibited in the state.
The state senator who represents Rhea County, Tommy Kilby, D-Wartburg, said Wednesday he hadn't seen the resolution and couldn't comment on it until he did.
"Yesterday in Judiciary Committee, they passed out a bill basically saying we will not recognize same-sex partnerships or civil unions from other states or foreign countries. I voted for that, and that's my position on that issue," Kilby said.
State Rep. Jim Vincent couldn't be reached for comment Wednesday.
Rhea County, about 30 miles north of Chattanooga, is among the most conservative in Tennessee. It holds an annual festival commemorating the 1925 trial that convicted John T. Scopes on charges of teaching evolution, a verdict thrown out by the Tennessee Supreme Court on a technicality. The trial later became the subject of the play and movie, "Inherit the Wind."
In 2002, a federal judge ruled unconstitutional the Rhea County school board's Bible Education Ministry, a class taught in the public schools by students from a Christian college.

Couldn't help but notice the title, "Tenn. County Officials Seek to Ban Gays." I have some serious reservations about dealing with gays.
What about the use of Ben Gay? What if a gay guy has been rubbed with Ben Gay? Also, what if Gaye wants to be rubbed with Ben Gay by another lesbian? :jaw:
its a shame, they dropped the ban, but you know the Pink Army would cause such a fuss, probably bring in busloads of NYC fags of the extreme kind to demonstrate.

I really don't think all sins are equal. Murder is definately worse than say stealing a loaf of bread. As for homsexuality as long as they aren't throwing it in my face and shoving it down the rest of societies face I could care less. I think its a sin but those are my personal religious beliefs. They have no right to state sanctioned marriage any more than a pologiamist has to marrying multiple wifes.

I can certainly agree with your thinking as it only makes since to us worldly folk, but as it has been explained to me; in the eyes of God he places no more or no less emphasis on any sin as they are all equal to him. I imagine that someone with some more knowledge can explain it better than I, but that is pretty much the lowdown.

I never like them anywhere they were but, i admit, they are easier to tolerate as long as they are in the closet. There are a number of thoughts/conspiracies on this subject but, we know wher aides came from. Nuf' said....

Does anyone else feel that they can spot a gay guy the moment his mouth opens? There's a couple of T.V. weather men in my area who I'd swear are gay. They've got all the mannerisms which I associate with gays...and this is repulsive to me.
Of course, I can't prove they're gay and they don't openly admit to being gay, but I'd swear they aren't straight. My wife can't understand why I want to change channels we're watching as soon as these weird guys start talking. They sound like a couple of sick chickens talking, and their word emphasis and other suttle actions give them away. I'd just as soon have a weather channel which is for straight viewers only. Wish they'd rate channels for this and I'd make my choices accordingly. I'm definitely not interested in being around gays, and certainly not viewing their weird actions on the TV tube.
Yes, I'm biased and know that I am on this subject. :jaw:
