Shots Fired

Holly Crap Guys,

I just walked out to the garage to have a smoke, when I was out there approx. six rapid fire shots were fired right outside my garage. Needless to say I ducked behind my wife’s car and started looking for a gun, there were three within reach a mini 30, an m-44 and a 91/30 but they all had trigger locks on them, so I ran into the kitchen were I keep a pistol on top of a cabinet without a lock I was ducking the whole way, once I got my pistol I looked out the window and did not see anything, then I went out back (as I stepped outside I heard a car racing off) and came around the side yard and looked over the fence. Again nothing but my neighbor was out front. So putting the gun in my waist band I went out to talk to her, she said she heard the shots and the went outside and she saw a car parked in front of my house. She then asked, “what is going on?” the guy jumped into his car and sped off.

This kind of thing does not happen in my neighborhood, I live in a fairly upscale middle class neighborhood and this is not supposed to happen here.

I have been looking to move back into the hills where I was raised and this seems like a good reason to do so. At least I will be out of the city.

Question

Interesting about the trigger locks. I have them on part of mine, too, but the keys are within easy reach of the gun in a hidden spot. Not being able to get to them in an emergency could cause a person to panic.

Did you find any bullet holes in the walls around your garage? Or did anyone get a make on the car? or it's occupant(s)?

Glad you weren't the target of those perps.

Recommend turning it over to the pro's. Luckily no one hurt (that you know of)

I live in a pretty rough neighborhood, but seldom have problems. Go figure. Like the guy said when I bought the house. "Theese people aren't bad, just poor"

Yes I called the cops. They came out asked a few questions, looked around a little. There was not much they could do, I just wanted it on record that it had happened, in the last week we have had some problems with cars getting keyed, someone dumped a bunch of oil in the gutters, small crap like that. Today when I got up I went outside and looked for bullet holes and did not find any in my house or my neighbor’s houses.

I did not find any brass, so obviously a revolver, I thought it was too rapid firing for a revolver. My neighbor whom is a corrections officer, believes he could shoot a revolver that fast. Lack of bullet holes makes me think he fired into the air.

Ox,
As far as the trigger locks all of the trigger locks on my riffles are combination locks (no key needed) but there was an unlocked pistol ten feet away, I went after that one. I keep two guns unlocked in my house a pistol in the kitchen and a shotgun in my bedroom. Both up high.

Shaun,
I live in Rancho Cordova, now before you start that Rancho Cambodia crap, I live in the Sunriver subdivision on the American River, and it’s a nice place. But it is not the hills like I am use to.

How did you know I was going to start that stuff -- well I know that area will I used to rent a place at the corner of San Juan and Lincoln about 5 minutes from you in Fair Oaks. I am not suprised though about the gun fire in that area. Many of the foolish kids do go out and hang in that area and even some of the gangs know that along the river path is the best place for the drugs to trade hands. I used to see deals go on in that area when I was heavily riding the bike trail years back.

I didn't, but that is the usual response. In the four years that I have lived here it is pretty rare to hear gun fire.
