For Those who have children

Just wondering how your children react growing up with a gun nut. I have three daughters. The youngest would go to the range with me once in a while. The oldest doesn't care about guns at all but married a police officer/gun nut. My middle girl loves to go shoot and she deer hunts with me. Now i am waiting for the grand son to get old enough to go with me.

MY Daughters go through moods...sometimes want to go shooting..some times think guns are "stupid".....Now that they are teenagers it depends on their mood if they go shooting with me. I think they are unimpressed with guns....as opposed to the wow let me touch it that way non gun nut kids act.....to them guns are just things....not some big mystery.

A friend of mine has a 14yr old son who wants every gun out there, especially my Saiga 20 and AR.

Now that I'm selling the Saiga 20, his dad may buy it for him. Since they live on a farm and his dad gives him a bounty per pest shot, it's sort of a tool of the trade.

My son was doing just fine with .22's - then he discovered belt feds. He still gets a glimmer in his eyes when he talks about his first time behind a 1919 Browning. He's ready for the AK but just hasn't quite gotten the gumption to try it yet, he's only 9.
My little girl always wants to go with the boys when we go to the range so sge got a pink Chipmunk .22 for Christmas - I STILL can't believe I bought a pink rifle, JEEZ! Oh well, she's proud of it but we have an understanding that if I ever find Barbie stickers on it I'm gonna cammo that sucker!

my two girls (age 7 and 8) are too small to hold any of my rifles yet but they love to shoot my 41 magnum revolver! they love to go shooting with dad! and as for safety, they have been raised around shooting all their life and even though id never do it,even if they were around a loaded gun at home they would never touch it because i have drilled in their heads to assume all weapons are loaded. teaching kids gun safety is the biggest thing in my book! if you raise a child with a healthy respect for weapons they will be safe with them all their lives and teach the same to their kids.

Thumbs up Ditto Whirlwind

My daughter is going on 9, there is not much to her. She has been shooting my full length Rem 514. I have a Savage Cub on layaway. It just came in the other day. I't bigger than a Cricket but slimmed down more than a regular "youth" model. 3.3# A really nice gun. The only thing I didn't care for was the plastic trigger guard (come on Savage )

My four year old loves shooting his Crossman 760 - he is becoming very conscious of the basics like muzzle control and finger placement (KEEP YOUR FINGER OUT OF THE TRIGGER GUARD UNTIL YOUR READY TO SHOOT). He's just itching for me to start letting him shoot his little Steven's Favorite. He's also started watching the History Channel's "Tales of the Gun". The one that was on Saturday morning even beat out "Sponge Bob". Thats at four - I can only imagine what it will be like when he's eight.
