Man that's a tough one. If I was getting it in a major caliber that I was going to blast a lot, I wouldn't choose a Rem 7400. But since you'll be firing the not so cheap 270 Win, I'd pick the 7400 myself. That round will probably do anything the other would likely be used for, and will have lower pressures (meaning longer barrel life) and lower cost for ammo and brass if you reload, plus I think you can form it from 30-06 cases, but I'm not sure.

My brother just got a Ruger M77 MkII in .270 Winchester last week. Nice rifle!
BRG is right about the pressures though. The 270 WSM has pressures approaching 64,000 PSI. The 270 Win. is only slightly higher than the 30.06.
To me anyway, that kind of pressure isnt worth an extra 100-200 FPS.

Hey,
I already own a remington model 760 chambered in .270 Win. I have been looking around at gun's n i am really wanting a .270 WSM becasue it will shoot heavier bullet at the same velocity as the .270 Win. standard with a light bullet. It's just my oppinion but i am going to buy a tikka T3 varmint stainless in .270 WSM just as soon as i get the money.

go for the 270 win you'll be happy when you can form and trim the 06' brass to 270 spec's -- just realize with the 270 you are limiting your choices on the bullet with the 270 -- I would go 30cal or 7mm
