I saw the news (fox) while visiting my brother's home the other day. I can't tell you how angry this makes me. But, our gov. just does'nt seem to get it. Those people hate us! Those security guys were helping to bring food to those starving savages! Talk about biteing the hand that feeds you! I think America needs to make an example of that city. Just nuke it to the ground, everyone and everything totally destroyed. Maybe then, those vile animals will learn to leave the big guys alone! Of course, I know we won't do such a thing but, it's about time we did. Maybe if we got down on thier level, they will see the error of thier ways. Of course, the correct thing to do is to get our troops out of harm's way and let Mother Nature deal with those sad excuses for humans. We don't belong there!

there are some good companys to work for over here and some bad ones
MPRI seems to be the best one
triple canopy and haliburton, ITT systems are good Black water seem to be an extension of the
special operators community.
since they opened the war up to everybody that wants to go, there are a few fly by nighters.
If ya go make sure you have cash for airfare home stashed. there have been a coupla high and dry incedences that I have heard of.
I would suggest makeing shure ya get connected up with an out fit that is established and up and operating rather than any of the new teams going in now.
that situation is going to be sorting itself out over the next year or two.
and don't sign for more than a six month contract and dont sign an exclusionary clause. They will take you even if you dont.
Try and leave all your options open, well as many as possible.

The 12 dollar an hour gig sounds like a student deal.
They will go and recruite young people that dont know any better
Have fun and be careful.

Question Slave labor here or there is still....

Slave labor! You need to have normal hours to work. I know that for a fact. It never gets easier and without rest, you are just asking for something very bad to happen.

Thumbs down

Dang, my programming job in sunny Florida works out to about $12 an hour, and I'm not being shot at. Sounds like a bum deal.
Lousy hours, bad food, hot as Hades, Tangos under every rock . . . not conducive to job security.

Trust me, Blackwater pays considerably more than 12 bucks an hour. On average the guys were making more for 60 day tours than most people do for a year.

Off time? what would you do with your off time? where would you go?
how would you get there?
see thats part of the job there isnt much off time because there isnt anything to Do with off time, so why have any?
they are working 6 days a week
if you can handle the hours and the labor GO DO IT
I would be there right now if I was not in such bad physical shape.
Go and bring back some of that 87 Billion we are spending over there.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I worked at Baghdad International Airport for the last year, and just came back from there three weeks ago. Most of the casualties in Iraq came through our airport, and we treated them with as much respect as we could, and sent them on thier way home as fast as possible. Whenever possible, every U.S. casualty was loaded on the plane in a transfer case, with a flag over it, and a short prayer was given after loading.

I would have been happy to get 12.00 an hour. As a specialist (E4), I only took home around 33,000 for my 11 months in Baghdad. I worked 13-14 hour days for two months, in 120 degree heat before my first day off, and even after that I worked 6 days a week. I''m not complaining though, there are plenty of soldiers in Iraq who had it worse that I did.

As far as off time, I slept through most of it. After personal hygiene and chow, I only had an hour or two a day. Our post had a small library, a gym and rec tent with movies playstations. Several soldiers in my unit had thier own playstions, and we had access to a px much of the time we were there. I ordered a lot of stuff from Amazon while I was there, and most of the time they got it to me in less than two weeks.
