| Senior Member | argentine mauser(1891) Hi people I have an Argentine mauser(1891) that was given to me when Iwas 13(1963) by my father (took my first mulie with her, which was a feat in itself, as she would knock me down and give me bruises ,bought in a gibsons from a stack at the end of the sporting goods aisle, that will be 20 bucks son,boy those were the days) anyway she has been collecting dust for 35 years at the back of my collection, as ammo was very hard to find. A couple of weeks ago while thumbing through the latest SGN I found an add for cheap non-c military ball, and after hastily ordering ammo I took her out at the range, and just had a ball, I have not shot this old rifle in 35 years (of course waxed nostalgic, remembering cold New Mexico mornings with me and my pop out for the hunt), I was amazed at the accuracy of this old weapon, but realized I dont know anything about the history of this rifle for the Argentine army, and I cant find anything about it anywhere. Why the bizzare 7.65 caliber? can any one out there give me info or where I can find some? thanks people ![]()

| welcome 7mmmag, you have a fine piece there, but why did it take 35 years to find it again???the argie m-91 is basicaly the m-89 mauser used by belgium with a few minor changes. the 7.65 cartridge is a good one, and was used by a number of countries. i would suggest getting a couple of cases of the ammo, because who knows how long it will last!!! |

| Senior Member | thanks papa g I will look that up, my pop saw that old mauser was more than than I could handle then, and gave me a jc higgens 30-30 (I bought a jc higgens basketball and jc higgens 30-30, try that these days from your local sears)next year, and it has lingered in my collection since then, this rifle was part of my youth and I still have my trusty jc higgens 30-30, over the years I aquired better hunting gear and used them for the hunt, but maybe Ill take that old mauser out, if Ican find soft point ammo and bag another mulie, my pops has passed away 5 years ago I think he would like that

| Hey 7mm mag ........ Here's a link from Old Western Scrounger. If it doesn't work just go their site and type in "7.65" in the search box. http://www.ows-ammunition.com/cgi-bin/catalog25/search They have both soft-point and military ball. A bit pricey though. Enjoy! |

| Just go to http://www.ows-ammunition.com and do the search. The previous link I gave doesn't go directly to the item. |

| 7mm, you're in Los Alamos working at LANL??? I'll be there for an internship this summer working in the materials engineering department. I go to NMT in Socorro at the moment. Any good places to shoot around there? I'll be in Jemez Springs since that's the best place I could find to stay. Benny
