Spyware and security issue help

Well, Ol Sniper has dragged some really cool stuff in this time!

I had my home page and browser hijacked today.

If something like this happens to you, go to Google and type in the web address or description of the site that keeps ppping up...that's how I found all this here...

1st, this site is worth every penny, and since it is free, it is worth a thousand times what you'll pay to check your vulnerablitites!
http://www.jasons-toolbox.com/default.asp

Next,
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html
only if you have problems this utility describes...it will check your puter though and if you have the evil program, it will kill it.

Next,

I have Spybot and AdAware as well as Panic wares free pop up stopper. I have run Jasons Toolbox tests and have no installed Spyware Blaster.

Just thought I'd share some great info!

SpyBot and Adaware are phenomenal anti-spyware software.

I think adware is better, spy bot is a bit flacky, I have aol ( please dont scoff) and can get mcaffee virus protection for 1 dollar a month, on line its so good, when I run it, it takes out any ad ware and is updated everytime I log on, to date its erased over 600 data miners, newton knows, and has bottled up xupiter for me

have you put zone alarm on your system yet or put a firewall in place to help you prevent this.
XP's service pack 2 coming out in a few weeks will eliminate the need for spyware with the new security features being built into the OS

Cool yes, I have both programs also...

But, Shaun is right. A firewall is good also! I have Sygate, it's free off cnet. I am rarely online that I don't get at least one warning of a port scan....you know what that means.... I also run another firewall..Keirio, it too is free. Both seem to work quite well and once you train them what is cool and what is uncool....they don't slow you down like one would expect.

Firewalls are good to have too!

I have a hardware Firewall in my Router, and I am gonna look into updating it to be sure it is current and protecting me...I will most likely add one of the free ones mentioned here too...
