Wife was in the habbit of setting the rabbit out on nice days. Left him out a bit long today, albeit he had water and shelter, the heat may have been too much.
He died at 1700 our time. I had to sit and watch my 8 year old daughter try to nurse him back with water from a straw & a fan blowing on him.
Point is, look out for your critters. Dogs along with other critters are trying to shed winter coats. They need plenty of shade and water. A good brushing helps too.
The idea has been batted around. I may do it BUT, this time it will be an outdoor type. The lop ears types etc.. are cute for the kids and all, but not very resilient. We had a "mut" rabbit in AZ. He did fine in the heat. We'd put a frozen water bottle in the hutch mid afternoon, but that was only when it got into the 100's.
