Oasis in the desert

I've done 3 weekends of offroad motorcyling and came up with this.

the desert can be amazing. Last week I had to stop and watch 12 javelina cross in front of me. Today I chased a roadrunner.

This isnt what you would expect from a desert

The desert is a remarkable and unpredictable place.

On one hand it can be hostile enough to take you life or friendly enough to sustain it.

My wife and I have discovered a few water falls on our quad runnings.

The amazing part is they are where you wouldn't suspect.

Great pic Snakebite.

I enjoy looking at pictures of nature. My first thought when looking at that water falls was that it was a giant rock lying down taking a laek! :jaw:

Beatiful nature shot snakebite. I've allways been more of a north woods guy for obvious reasons but I can appreciate that scenery as well.

My wife and I joined a large group of off-roaders for a trip yesterday.

There were 52 quads, 37 jeeps, four or five dirt bikes and believe it or not, an EZ Go golf cart.

The over-all trip was 50 miles but it took us over eight hours to complete.

The point I'm trying to make is we saw some fantastic scenery of which I'll post some pics when we get them developed (I refuse to take my digital on a ride where I might find my quad upside down in water).

There were spots that a few jeeps turned around and back-tracked and a few quads flipped. The EZ Go had no problems (...go figure for a two wheeler).

There were several spots we crossed running creeks/rivers with two-three foot of water.

That's not a real problem for the high jeep-typed four wheelers. But it became a challenge for some of the quads.

The dirt bikes called it quits because of the larger rocks, water and lack of traction for them.

Anyway...I'll post some really neat pics in a few days.

Six inchers won't work here. I need eight inchers or longer. It's too dry in KC for those scrawney little plants.

I got a bunch of green tomatoes.

A couple look like they are wanting to begin to turn.

I've already gotten some Butternut squash and the eggplant are blossoming.

I have several bunches of green grapes.
