San Antonio kids musta taken lessons from British "sex-"ed students

This is a call I handled.....I handle most calls at this particular school among others. You'll see me in the video....

These kids were taped performing oral sex on campus.....long after I had gone off duty. The media did a pretty cruddy job of telling the truth on this one....imagine that....

It went down like this......the school principal received an anonymous call stating that the caller had observed two couples in the act of oral sex the previous day. The caller stated that they video taped the kids in the act.

The principal requested that she turn the tape in to her so she could deal with the students in volved. The caller refused. The caller further refused to turn the tape in to me despite being advised that they could be charged with possession of child pornography if they did not surrender the tape under TX law. If the caller would surrender the tape I could prosecute the kids. But the caller remained unsure and stated that she would contact me the next day. I wrote pending closure police report.

The caller failed to contact me or the school the next day. Instead I received a call from my Lt letting me know that the caller would not be turning the tape into the police, instead she (which turned out to be a he) released the tape to the media.

How come these kids have so much unsupervised free time on a school campus? Seems to me they shouldn't be allowed to wander into areas that looks like a delivery/custodial area.

Can't blame the "woman" for not wanting to deal with the cops. As pointed out in the text, first thing they did was threaten legal grief [read the text of the post]. But, that being said, the media isn't the best thing to do either. At least, you aren't giving the cops the evidence they can, and , no doubt would, use against you later on down the road. Maybe, the "woman" might have ended up being sued by the poor little chillin's. Either way, it's a big ball-O-wax. I think I might just mind my own business and let the kids have thier fun.

This happened well after school hours. Schools here dismiss at 1525 here. This was at about 1630 hours. I was already at my house when this happened.

The media took the footage from the womans tape, and then spliced it with tape they took at dismissal yesterday to make it look like people were everywhere. The footage of me was taken yesterday while I was responding to a totally different call at the school. But it made it look like it was happening right around the corner from me.

Rufus, if a person video tapes children in sexual acts for evidentary purposes, and then does not turn it over to the police as was her stated purpose for the tape, she/he is in possesion of video tape that she wouldn't want to get caught with. I didn't threaten her in any way shape or form. I explained that if she chose to "sit on the tape" she could be charged with possession of CP down the line. Who would believe her if they caught her with it weeks down the line and she tries to say she was keeping it as evidence to prove her point.

She stated that she wanted something done about the problem, but she was not willing to provide me with the evidence I needed to do my job. Sounds to me like she simply wanted to make a spectacle out of the deal.

Notice, no one from the media have contacted the police department or requested a copy of my report on the incident.

My guess is that she is a parent of a current or former student who has a grudge against the principal of the school.

that would have been me One* i would have the DA working on charging her with posetion and distobution of child porn and refusing to turn over evidence, as well as makeing child porn. then deal with getting some more supervision after school hours.

IT makes you think if the media bends the truth that much to have a dramatic story best suited for tabloidal shows like ET, how much do we really know about anything else going on locally and globally. You really need to read between the lines on things to have any facts. This kind of thing goes on at a bunch of schools, there just isn't a person with a video camera there everytime. I think it is more of a parent issue than the schools issue. I know if school is out at 3:25 then my kid will be on a bus or picked up by 3:30 unless in athletics. Let's put some of the blame on these parents.

The newsies' definately were trying to make the Police the bad guys, They made it sound like the kids were on the steps of the schools main entrance. Apparently you are suppose to guard the building when it's empty to?!

That's good they back you but the Admin needs to step up and tell the public that the news report is not accurate -- the departments side of the story needs to come out or you will have citizens who recognize you now that think you are an idiot based on the one sided video

I bet the idiots never thought about the "Hey look everybody, we're on T.V." mentality that todays kids have. This in a town where female gang members were having unprotected sex with known AIDS carriers to show how tough they are and actually bragging about getting in the newspaper. The news broadcaster DID sound like he was laying blame on you, when he said that you were not there, they did state twice that this was after school hours and that you had left. So technically they did not accuse you of anything. And the law is technical. So there is no legal recourse with the news station.
I also noticed that all of the kids seemed to be wearing uniforms is this case? If that is true it seem to point out that it is an inner city school and these type of things are going to happen. Here we have a middle school and a high school that are right next to each other and a few of the middle school girls were being prostituted out to the high school boys by boys in the middle school.
