President Bush made a remark that reminded me of what that day means to me. He said of the new memorial,"At this place,at this moment,we acknowledge a debt of long standing to an entire generation of Americans....those who died, those who fought and worked and grieved and went on. They saved our country, and thereby saved the liberty of mankind.President Bush Well that got me to thinking again about how it is indeed true,in my opinion, that was the Greatest Generation.Notice how I didn't inclose that with quotation marks like it wasn't really true but only someone's opinion, like I see in all the Newspaper articles and commentaries. I thank God for those people and I also thank god that I as one of those born in the forties had a little bit rub off on me.I also salute those of you that took the time and energy to teach your children a little bit about real values and real class, and doing the right thing, something we need so badly today. Thay say those people, the old-timers are dying off at a rate of about 1000 a day,too bad as they are truely a loss. After turning on the TV and reading the paper and listening to those old -timers,such as my wife's uncle,92 years of age and still has all his marbles tell us how it was in France and Germany during WWII when his main duty was guarding prisoners I can truely believe that those people were indeed members of the Greatest Generation. To those in the service today I say thanks, and keep up the tradition by always trying to do the right thing. :right:

Well said, Rave! I, too, recieved a small amount of the rubbing off of class, as you mention. When it's all said and done, America is suffering from a loss of principals. Let's all hope the rest of us can pass along some class for the next generation. I, too give thanks for those who serve to protect us, and our way of life. But, with leaders like Kerry, Klinton and other morons-too numerous to mention, I fear America has only a generation or two, maybe, left before we become another France or some other whimpy nation simalar. To all the military folks who are, or have served, accept my personal thanks! I appreciate you!

same here. my folks survived the Depressian, and went on to a World War. i learned from them what it takes to be a good citizen and a man. "THAT" generation was the one and only. saw one "Vet" say the Memorial was 60 years too late, and i agree, should have been done generations ago. Even the old Soviet Union made sure they had a Memorial to their WWII soldiers in short time after they recovered from the war. |

I couldn't agree with you guys more about the value our veterans from all of our American wars. I'm glad they're getting some long overdue credit for what they've done for the rest of us civilians. :right:
