| Recalled Holsters Could Cause Guns To Fire
Recalled Holsters Could Cause Guns To Fire Strap Can Cause Gun To Fire Accidentally Call 1-866-508-3997 For More Information Jun 9, 2004 11:03 am US/Central NEW YORK (AP) A Pennsylvania company is recalling some 3,200 gun holsters because the strap can catch the trigger and cause the weapon to fire accidentally. Eight incidents of accidental firing have been reported, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday. The Fobus USA Holster Division of First Samco Inc., of Southampton, Pa., is recalling its Fobus GLT holsters, designed for Series 17 and Series 19 Glock handguns fitted with a laser-sight light. There have been eight reports of guns discharging as they were inserted into the holster. One person sustained a finger injury. The recall, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, involves about 3,200 units with leather or plastic retention straps less than an inch wide. The holsters are inscribed with "GL 2..EMZ," "FOBUS" and "Made in Israel." They were sold at gun accessory retailers nationwide and on the Fobus Web site between March 2002 and March 2003 for about $40 to $45. The holsters have since been redesigned with wider straps and a plastic tip that is too wide to be caught in the trigger guard. Consumers should stop using the holsters immediately and bring them to a Fobus USA distributor for a free replacement holster or contact First Samco Inc. for instructions on how to return product for a replacement. Consumers can also send the recalled holster to Fobus USA in Southampton, and will be reimbursed for return shipping. For more information consumers can call 1-866-508-3997 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EDT Monday through Friday. (© 2004 The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved. :assult: :assult: :assult: :assult: :assult: When I started in guns a few years back, the gunstore clerk sold me one of the Fobus paddle holsters for my G23, I tried it for a few days and didn't like it 'cause the rivets where scratching my brand new gun (actually the rivets where depositing material on the surface of the Tenifer finish, I learned this later). I corrected the problem by covering the rivets with black RTV silicone. After a few more days using it, I hated the way it was constructed, it felt that it may break the paddle from the holster, so I bought a cheaper nylon rig from uncle mikes and then it felt secure. Mine is somewhere in the scrap parts box and I never intend on using it again. The worst of it is that I paid close to $40.00 for something that feels flimsy, I've never heard of one broken, but I haven't seen many of those either. They advertised these rigs as combat tested, but I don't think it would withstand the military abuse. In conclusion, it's a very expensive piece of plastic!!! :uzi: :uzi: :uzi: :uzi: :uzi:

holsters are like shoes. ya dont know what you like, just what you don't I have gone through several holsters untill I found one that I like for a particular pistol. so dont feel bad, it is not unusual to go through several holsters untill you find one you like I have had good luck with Galco and Safariland uncle mikes are cheap but they work if you are going to pack all the time, uncle mikes are like a pair of cheap tennis shoes its better than barefoot but dont expect it to last very long or be very comfortable Equateing holsters to shoes has helped me sell many Many holsters. attaching and carrying your firearm on your body is kinda important I have had cheap ch ! t and high quality and the quality stuff is appreciated long after the price is forgotten. You are going to have to try several types of holsters untill you find the one right for you, you have to live with it. When it comes to firearms and firearms accessories Dont skimp when it comes time for the Firearm to preform its primary function there is NOTHING more important.

i like the fobus i have but it doesnt have any strap. its a retention holster. besides every time i put a firearm in a holster with a strap i check to make sure its out of the way, hello thats common sence isn't it. or at the least basic safety.

Straps are referred to by many as a one way trip to the morgue for CCW

Where is my original post that was between Doglips and Mandy concerning the scratching of firearms by Fobus holsters? This seems to have happened several times on other threads also.

:assult: :assult: :assult: :assult: :assult: Ok ScottD, I yhink that the plastic per se won't scratch your gun, but the rivets defintely will !! The original post was from some guy called Signa, but seems that nobody looks at the holster forum, so I gave the same response to doglips thread just to make sure it gets accounted for. Dennis, I agree 100% with the shoe-holster comparison, the uncle mikes rided in my hip for a couple of months until I discovered the Eagle Fanny Pack, after that, nothing else keeps my gun near me (99% of the time), unless I'm wearing a Jacket, then a shoulder rig is my companion (1% of the time) :uzi: :uzi: :uzi: :uzi: :uzi:

:assult: :assult: :assult: :assult: :assult: You basically have four diferent permits: 1) Gun ownership, gives you the right to keep a gun (pistol or revolver) in your house for defense purpose only, you can shoot 50 rnds/year to practice in a gun club or certified range, you can buy no more than 2 guns. 2) Target, gives you the above rights and unlimited ammo (in calibers registered to you via the guns you have registered under your name) and unlimited guns to purchase, including longguns, and all the shooting that you can afford at a gun club or certified range. 3) CCW, gives you the right to carry concealed for defense purpose only(no open carry unless you're LEO). 4) Hunter, gives you the right to register a shotgun (sorry no rifles) to hunt in designated hunting grounds. Does that answer you question? :uzi: :uzi: :uzi: :uzi: :uzi:

:right: :right: :right: :right: :right: It isn't illegal, but many people has illegal guns here. The problem is that the criminals won't obey the laws, no matter how strong you make them, much the same everywhere Uhhh! And the law abiding citizens have to pay the prize of gun control, this sucks !!!

     I use them for convenience, since you can't carry open here. The most comfortable way for me is the Fanny Pack or shoulder rig, this is due to dress code, I wear every day polos, jeans and field boots to supervise the jobsites and having a gun can intimidate some people. With the Fanny Pack, the people may think that you've a gun but they're never sure of it since the Fanny Packs here are widely used by everyone. If I could carry open, I would use a srong side leather rig with FBI cant or maybe stick to the shoulder rig even without a jacket.
