What do you do with your old gun boxes?

I was comptemplating throwing away my new Winchester box & decided to hang onto it for a while.

I have a few boxes, but have pitched just as many more. I don't get rid of guns often, so not a big player there.

What do you all do?

Jerry its up to you -- I keep my boxes because I sometimes ship C&R's to my ex Father in Law (my hunting buddy also a C&R) we work on various projects and the boxes make it easy to ship them without trying to buy ones that fit.

Keep mine for shipping if I tire of them and sell one or two.

I keep them for various storage and shipping, not for the same guns, just anything in general.

I keep them, but if my wife finds one she throws it out!

I keep all my loved ones in the box they came in. Some were purchased, at shows, and are not new...so no box. But, new ones, or ones that come with the box...always reside in thier boxs. It's a love/respect thing...you understand.

Don't have many... but I'm keeping them. Same with my guns, too. I've heard that the resale value of guns are better if the original box is still included, not that I'm planning to sell any guns.

Hey...I'm going the other direction...getting ready for more effective home/personal defense. Plus, I might even find other new rifles, pistols and C&R's I can't resist buying. Any boxes that they come in I'm keeping, too.

I used to always throw them away, but for the last few years, I keep them all. I have too many guns to have cases for if I have to move, so the boxes are good for that. I started out with a "case for every gun" policy, but heck, I have fifty-plus twentytwos now! Not counting the milsurps and sporting centerfires.
The boxes take up one whole corner of my Gun Room.

Keep'em all. They're worth money. I have a Ruger Single Six that is circa '57 and I have the original box. Cool.

I've never bought a gun new so I don't know, I guess I would keep it, for while, and then throw it away and then six months later I would need it!

I was in the gun shop yesterday, and an old bloke came in with an old single shot .22 made by lithgow arms co. Still in its box. had to of been 50 years old.

it turns out his licence had come up for renewal, and he figured it wasn't worth going thru the chit to get it done for a singleshot.22 that he never used.

Needless to say the gun is worthless, about $50, but I reckon the the box would be worth that much on its own, perfect condition, with pictures of rabbits and foxes and suff on it.

i keep the ones i plan on selling again, or anything that i have paid a prety penny for. the cheap ones and play toys don't get kept. they end up back at the gun shop and used to ship other guns.
most of them i keep.
and i'm allways looking on ebay and at gun shows for ones i don't have to go with a used one i came across. not all of them though.

Like ScottD said, I have the original box an paperwork for a Hi-Standard Duramatic pistol. It adds a little value to an otherwise not too valuable gun.

I keep all the pistol boxes. Why not? They take up so little room. Usually trash the boxes for the cheaper long guns. Keep boxes on more expensive long guns. My safe sits at a 45-degree angle the corner of my office and makes a neat hiding spot behind it for those long boxes. Keeps the wife from pitching them! Luckily, I haven’t needed to get one out yet!

On mil-surps, I flatten the box and use it as a pad while I'm cleaning all the cosmoline off. Never bought a new one in the box before. My ex bro-in-law had a Dan Wesson .357 in a wood case with three barrels in the original box that I thought was just TOO cool!
