Sears Policy should be noted.

I received the following email today from a friend. Thought it would be good to post on g&g.
Ox
------------

"Have you seen the reports about how Sears is treating its
Reservist employees who are called up? By law, they are
required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing
more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits
as a result of being called up...

Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining
all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all
called up Reservist employees for up to two years. I submit that
Sears is an exemplary Corporate citizen and should be recognized
for its contribution.

Suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to
tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive
reinforcement it well deserves."

Pass it on.

"So I decided to check it out before I sent it forward. I sent the
following email to the Sears! Customer Service Department:

I received this email and I would like to know if it is true. If it is,
the Internet may have just become one very good source of
advertisement for your store. I know I would go out of my way
to buy products from Sears instead of another store for a like
item even if it was cheaper at the other store."

Here is their answer to my email...

Dear Customer:

Thank you for contacting Sears.

The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback.
Sears regards service to our country as one of greatest sacrifices
our young men and women can make. We are happy to do our
part to lessen the burden they bear at this time.

Bill Thorn
Sears Customer Care

Please pass this on to all your friends, Sears needs to be recognized for
this o outstanding contribution and we need to show them as Americans,
we do appreciate what they are doing for our military...

I only shop for tools and other appliances there, so I guess that's my part for the cause.

My point in posting this email was to suggest that more companies should take note and follow Sear's example if, in fact, they aren't already doing so.

I don't know what laws currently exist relating to how the jobs of returning national guard and other military personnel are protected.

How about a response from those of you who were returning from tours of duty in the past?

More companies should do what CAT&SEARS do -- they offer full benefits, and pay to the reservist employee basically supplementing the difference between the military pay and the normal salary to make sure the employees family does not have a financial hardship

Normally only large corporations can afford to make up the difference. I actually earned more on active duty than my job. 20 years & being an E-6 didnt hurt.

The only thing I was guaranteed as a job when I got back., all the other legal stuff, sienority etc.. Not complaining though, I just wanted a job.

Glad to hear that Cat more than comply's with laws relating to returning military personnel. I hope that many more companies do as well as Cat and Sears in supporting their active duty military employees.

And...Jerry, and others, who've contributed so much to our homeland security and safety, THANKS! Your actions will not be forgotten. You've earned my highest respect for sure. :right: :cheer:

Know that NTB is owned by Sears. That's where I will always go and direct people for tires and other stuff they offer.
