7MMag6, I like it! Do you think we could get Papa G to get a job and help pay our social security? Last time I asked he was not interested.

1. I do think there's a point to be made about the costs of a draft vs better equipping our soldiers.

2. Foreign aid... my arse. What crackhead decided it was a better use of OUR money to send it over to countries that hate us and favor our enemies? While our troops go into Iraq without the best body armor we have for them? (Supplies of such body armor have left some troops without body armor that they were intended to have).

3. It is a violation of the purpose of women to send them away for war. It's good for them to learn how to defend themselves and their own home and country if attacked, but sending them over to war under some equality BS is just that... BS. If they still had the system where a non-draftee could go in the place of a draftee, I'd do that myself. In fact, if a draft were on the horizon and women were intended to be included, I'd sign up and encourage others to do so to prevent just that. The minority of women who are mentally and physically competent in war who would not already sign up and otherwise be drafted would hardly offset the incredible loss that would occur if women were randomly drafted. And this cost would be an incredible loss of life for men and women.

4. Finally, in this day and age of technological and resource based warfare, if a draft were instituted, it would probably be far better use of the personnel resources to employ them at military production facilities in the states instead of sending them overseas. Instead, they should be sending equipment and supplies to the well trained fighting men overseas. Given that our men over there don't have everything that they need, I think it's a no brainer that we should give them more of the stuff they need instead of giving them more people to share stuff between.
