cow tracking

Is it just me or does anyone else find it absolutely amazing
that the U.S. government can track a cow born in Canada
almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps
in the state of Washington, and determine exactly what that
cow ate. They can also track her calves right to their stalls,
and tell you what kind of feed they ate.

But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens
wandering around in their country, inlcuding people
that are trying to blow up important structures in the U.S.

My solution is to give every illegal alien a cow as
soon as they enter the country.

You are all pranoid! the reason they can track a cow is because from the moment a cow is born it is branded, has a electronic ear tag jagged through its ear, and the owner has to fill out all kinds of dumbarse forms when ever he wants to take a dump.

interesting point. How come we can't get them outa here? If we did as I suggested, we'd have no problem except some bleeding hearts and some angry towel wrappers....and who cares about angry towel wrappers or, for that matter, bleeding hearts?

Hey Whirlwind, just out of curiosity, was that recently that you raised your cattle, Because over here we keep hearing about how the US has the best system in the world for tracking livestock, and if you can do what you are saying then something sure aint right. If you sell or transport cattle in Australia without the right paperwork and some form of permanent identification, brands or tatoos, they'll whack ya in court quicker than you can blink.

My father in-law raises beef cattle in NY. They use eartags. Also, I bet the tracking also starts from the feed lot.
The reason you can track meat is the same reason fedex can tell you exactly where your package is at anytime.

granted,i realize things may have changed here .it has been around 10 years since i had cattle. but i live by alot of cattle ranches and i dont see many ear tags of any kind at all. closest to me is a black angus ranch that id estimate has around 500 plus head and i dont recall ever seeing ear tags on them. their are also a few brahma and herford ranches too that ive never seen any outwardly noticable identification devises on. those are the main types of herds folks keep around here except for buffalo, there is a bison ranch just north where they cross breed them with various types of cattle to produce "beef-allo" very good meat! little to no marbleized (sp?) fat! very healthy stuff! you have my curiosity up now...i may go to the sale barn across town next tuesday. thats the only day they trade livestock here in town. but i would be very interested to know if things have changed that much.

Have to remember this was a pure bred DAIRY cow, their milk production and calving is documented much closer then the average cross breed beef cow. Think of it as an AKC registered dog that can actually make money. All the documentation on this animal was provided by the farmer, government couldn't do this kind of tracking if our lives depended on it.

And when it does, you can do that "I told ya so!" dance you've been working on these past years.
