There are practical as well as humane and otherwise critter friendly reasons to use live traps. For one thing, you can re-use the one trap forever. Secondly you don't have to worry about having a dead animal there. Third you don't have to worry about poison that can hurt something else. Fourth, you can catch larger animals like groundhogs as easily as small ones, without having to be there. Finally you'll have a little friend to talk to when you take it away to release it.

i am reminded of a few years back. a Bergen NJ guy wacked and killed a rat in his garden with a shovel. he was arrested for animal cruelty, and fined. the A-hole judge admonished the rat killers actions. he said that the rat should have been live trapped, and released in its natural environment!!! duuuuuh!!! whats a rats natural environment, dumps, and homes. heeeereeees yer sign |

Well the mouse is back. This time Mom heard him. I loved her reaction; she freaked out. She called it the "killer mouse that was after her." I'm beginning to think this is worth the infestation.

IF you could get a AFT permit of course. We had some rats get into the crawl space above the kitchen....chewed threw the eves/screen on the outside wall were the roof/wall meet.... I poped off a few shots at them with a pelet gun but seemed to just make them mad. I put several bug bombs in the crawl space then followed up by useing a a long peice of 2" PVC pipe with an air hose nipple and twist valve on one end...and open on the other to blow a combanation of 7s dust, boric acid and crushed mothballs into the crawl space.......then repaied the screeens 24 hours later.....seems to have chased to mice out....I waited so that I would not have trapped or dead mice in the ceiling above my kitchen....glue traps also work well. |

SRX...in the meantime the mouse is breeding which could result in even more mice. The problem only gets worse so you might as well not call the humane society. Either get a cat, put out mice bait, or get a professional exterminator on the job quickly.
