Red face Traveled 600 Miles for a Job Interview

Put the miles on today. Traveled into MN today for a job interview, it was 600 miles RT. What really ticked me off was the interview was 1/2 hour long and the interviewee asked all of the questions off of a typed 2 page sheet. Could've done it over the phone and saved the trip.

This place was on the Mississippi River across from LaCrosse, Wi what they call the Bluffs. I took a picture of some of the Bluffs. Pretty town, college campus and though they teach many different courses it was the Nursing that caught my eye. And I mean on every street corner. Sure do like summer.

Nice looking place. I can picture myself sitting there in a little boat fishing.

I love the summer in Boston. All the college girls walking around looking for shorter shorts.

The interview was so monotone and lifeless. And then to jump right back into the truck and drive it right back. What a waste.

At this point in time any job is worth having.

My background is industrial mfg. like automotive or aerospace. This job was what they call process mfg., a little different animal, but I'm willing to look into different jobs right now. A lot of the machinery used in process mfg. is the same in industrial. That was the reason that I was willing to travel 600 miles. I'm hungry and dang tried of being unemployeed.

I have some other irons in the fire, though none of them are a sure thing. I just keep saying, "Today's the day."

Your in a pretty job rich area up there. A lot of industry. You should do fine, just keep that iron in the fire.

Jerry at one time I would agree with you, but it is not like that anymore. Too much out sourcing to other locations, the south-no unions and outside the country-labor, wages.

Most manufacturing now a days is done in Mexico, where it is getting expensive and where it will head to China and from there the next big market is India.

My last job I was willing to relocate to El Paso to work for the company and my boss looked at me with a grin and said, "Why should we when I can hire 5 Mexicans to replace you and still make money."

It'll be 2yrs. Tuesday since I have been pounding the street to get back into my career field. And because the market is so bad here in the Chicago area is why I'am willing to travel 600 miles for an interview.
