Bunker Lake

We just got back from our annual camping trip up in the Sierra Nevada’s. Took the whole family for the second year in a row, now that the kids are getting big enough for the hike in the lake, about a mile. My brothers and I have been hiking into this lake since we were 5 and 6 with my father and now I am taking my son (6) and my daughter (5). No one around for miles just us and the lake. Spent a lot of time fishing, did not catch anything. Haven’t caught a fish in this lake since I was 18. A couple of summers ago my nephew caught an 18 in trout in the lake using a bobber and Salmon eggs. So I know there are fish, but not like when I was a kid. My brothers, sisters and I brought our entire families with us, so this little lake saw more people than it has seen in years, there was a total of 13 of us. On Saturday my brothers and I broke out the guns and had a little shooting class for the kids, I think they enjoyed it and learned a lot about guns.

All around a good time for everyone, but my brothers and I were a little disappointed that it was not just the guys, besides it sucks having to carry everything that women consider important to camp i.e.: tent, air mattress, more than one pair of pants, and yes a bottle of hair conditioner. We had to make two trips to get everything down to the lake.

Allen, I've been in the general area several times and your pics bring back some nice, nice memories.

But, I'm surprised the Californa gestapo allowed you past their check-points.

LOL.

That is some nice scenery. Doesnt matter about catching fish!
A lake without saguaro, ocotillo, prickly pear, cholla cactus and Mohave rattlers is a good place to be!

With all the millions of people in California, it's amazing that your lake isn't infested with more humans. That's got to be a fun place to get away from everything except...frogs, snakes, birds, fish?, and more.

LOL.
It is all national forest land, all we needed was a fire permit (no charge), same laws as the rest of the nation for national forest.
