That;s the thing though. Our world has become so "me-centered." A marriage is not supposed to be. You should be concerned more with making the other happy as long as you are doing it morally. If one is more concerned with what one can get, then I question why one got married.

Marriage is 100% 100% not 50/50. 53 years and counting with my one and only

SRX you should also remember that it is not a one way relationship if you are working to make the other happy -- what keeps you happy? My 1st Marriage was exactly what OX was talking about when I was dating my ex and even living with her we both had no complaints in the attention we were paying one another. Once we were married she hit the brakes and I was miserable but trying to make her happy what I didn't realize was I was miserable. You have to take care of yourself first

I think that SRX has an "idealistic" view of marriage. Wish I could say that's how it works. Not so. It's full of continuous adjustments in making it work. DANA also told it right. Marriage is 100%...not a 50/50 deal. 100% is made up of all sorts of combinations of numbers (issues to deal with in marriage) totaling 100%.

I dont have an idealistic view of marriage at all. I know there are rough patches along the road, and staying married is a decision, not a whim. What I was saying is what a marriage is supposed to be. It's good though to strive for the best you can (it'll never be perfect, but it will be good). That was my point.

You do know there is the otherside? You don't have to run off and get married at the kick of a bucket. Marriage is not for everyone and I think waiting until both partners are mature enough to even handle that decision is approriate. Some people that maybe 20 years old and others that is 30 years of age.

And then of course there are the ones that just aren't going to be wrangled into it at all.

Guess which one I favor?

I totally agree with you. I don't want to marry someone until it's right. That means financially, not just maturely. I also don't want to get married until I've lived on my own for a little bit. I'm independent, and I want to see the world before I settle down. When I do however, I want a huge family--8 kids (I know now that none of you will talk to me now--lol).

How you procreate?

You just do it, my daughter will be 19 years this month and I've never been married, but allways took care of my baby.

We're so attached to each other that we talk allmost everyday, I know about the boyfriend and her mother doesn't, go figure !

She's the light of my life and I can't imagine a life without her !

As long as you take care of your children, you're Ok with me !!!

Hi Di sorry I took so long to see your post, you need to stick around, you know how much we love ya, you need to come to NM and teach me how to shoot skeet, I went for the first time a couple of months ago. I hit a few clays, and managed to scare the heck out of the people on the next one over, in other words --I sucked--its good to see you back and I hope you are getting back to good health :ballons: ------
