Wow! First time in Dunham's.....buttload of C&R's...Mausers...Enfields...Yugo SKS's by the rack...(though $179 is a bit steep but not to bad if you don't know any better). Had the SAIGA shotguns there but only in 20 ga...no 12's...want a 12 first. Had the SAIGA rifles there with the short barrels but they were .223...want 7.62x39. Almost bit on a 20 ga SAIGA, but decided to go to my local dealer and picked up a new 24" rifled bore, rifle sighted barrel for my 500A Mossberg riotgun that sits next to my bed. I've never shot my riot gun, or my other Mossy 500A with the nice wood stock. 1 barrel will fit both. Gonna pick up some slugs and send them down range next Thursday...see what them slugs do to them propane tanks! Oh, and whats the deal with the IAI M1 carbines? They had 3 of them there....good guns or junk? Want $549 for one.

Be sure you have some aspirin handy before shooting a bunch of 12 ga slugs in that pump!

Make sure the tank is empty Joe -- don't want to be giving you a darwin award.

Joe, I really like my little IAI M1 Carbine - great lil' shooter. Decently reliable, looks good (though I did refinish the stock), light and handy. It shoots a consistent 2" group at 50 yards with good ammo. The new production (pre-ban commercial) 30-round mags took a little persuasion to lock in at first, but these mags are always quirky when new. A couple times in and out, and now they work great. The Carbine came with a ten-rounder, so I had to upgrade. You know that feeling, eh Joe? The rifle did balk a little at first, but it has to be broken in to slick up the Parkerized action. After a couple thirty round mags thru her, she purrs like a kitten. Here's my civilian "Warbaby": http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-...arbineM888.jpg That is a pretty high price though, Joe. I paid $450 at the gunshow here. Heck, a shop down the road had two Universals tagged at $350, so I felt okay about the price. Real GI Warbabies go for $650 and up. Too rich for my Cracker blood. :insane:

never been to one of the super stores, about 99% of my guns are ordered through local dealers. dying for an M1 carbine, but the real ones are ridiculously priced. i have a last ditch Universal before the company folded, nothing GI about it. has any one seen the Auto-Ordnace carbine clone yet??? |
